Default North Dallas Forty Wines?

Well, after swearing for years that I would never move from Colorado
Springs (after 23 years in the USAF and lots of moves), I suddenly
find myself in the position of enthusiastically relocating.

House is sold and new house breaks ground this week in a small town
about 65 miles straight north of Dallas. Which leads me to the
question--since the tiny, benighted little down is in a dry precinct,
I'm going to have to visit the big city for wine shopping.

Any folks got recommendations for wine emporia in the North of Dallas
area--Plano, Arlington, Denton, Sherman, etc.????

Ed, now I'm the only guy in Colorado Springs on the group! (Previous
aliases were Kirk O'Scotland and Scott O'Kirkland). Best of luck to
you.
Don't know anything about the Dallas wine stores though!

Near Sherman? I live fairly close to Texarkana/Longview. In Dallas I have
found some of the Siegels have fairly good selections.

Whitesboro, actually. About 15 miles W. of Sherman.

Good luck with the move, Ed. (I've bought some wines from time to time in
Dallas but too long ago to offer useful advice.) I do recall a lively
retail wine scene in the region ("Metroplex"), and -- in common with other
US metropolitan areas with relatively recent population growth, and with
many residents who moved in from elsewhere-- it seemed to have a lot of wine
enthusiasts. No doubt there are the usual fluid local tasting groups which
good merchants can clue you in to; Web sites; etc.

The venerable local dining newsgroup, in case you aren't already aware, is
dfw.eats .
