TB,
Seems to me you want to get the flavor of the city, and one of the best ways is to go to the Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street, check out the nice wine store there, and then eat at the Slanted Door, upscale Vietnamese with a really adventurous wine list. You're right on the Bay, with a great view. Also, a really fine farmer's market at this location on Saturday 8 a.m. till 2 p.m. Also, Frascati restaurant on Russian Hill, right on the Hyde Street cable car line, a really nice intimate place with fine food in the Cal-Italian style and tons of atmosphere. PlumpJack wine store on Fillmore Street a block or two off Lombard has a nice selection of wines, including a lot of Kermit Lynch's. Have a great trip. |
