Despite our pronounced Europhilic palates, we do from time to time find a domestic wine that we like. A perennial favorite is, along with most everything Steve does, Edmunds St. John Bone Jolly rosé, the rare domestic rosé that has a low ABV and is light and refreshing, evocative of warm summer days. However, we recently had another rosé from the US that we liked well enough to get more of, 2019 Navarro Rosé of Pinot Noir, which is also low in alcohol, light on the palate and refreshing with notes of fresh strawberries and watermelon. It's not a complex wine and won't challenge Domaine Tempier or Baudry in my affections, but is available at a decent price and is quite satisfying. Mark Lipton p.s. I hear that Bedrock's "Ode to Lulu" rosé is a worthy contender, but have yet to try any. That sounds nice. Navarro has 1 cent shipping, but late for me for ground. |
