Default Athens Greece Clipper cruise

In Sept will be celebrating 30 year aniv on a Clipper cruise with 3 other
close friends....starting in Athens Greece and doing some small Greek
Islands.

Then, after a couple extra days in Athens we are off for Paris, just my wife
and I. But since we have 10 days before flying home in Paris...any
suggestions for where to take the fast train for a 3 day trip that would be
really great?

Bordeaux, Lyon, etc...been planning this part and struggling.

Don't restrict your ideas to France. London, for example, is now
easily accessible by train from Paris.

Champage is always nice in the summer. Easy to get to from Paris.

Last spring I went to Beaune for 3 days and had a great time. I also spent
3 days in Bordeaux, but enjoyed Beaune more.

1 Why restrict to TGV?
2 Loire Valley (TGV to get to Tours and rent car from there)
3 Normandy (again car is helpful)
3 Lake Annecy
4 Dordogne is very nice this time of year (TGV to Bordeaux rent car or
take regional train stop in Bergerac for wine related fun
5 Switzerland, go to Montreux
6 Bruxelles-Ghent-Bruges
7 do something different go to the Ardennes in Belgium

That is only a start.

Mike, I guess I have to leave Paris...the dollar is so weak this trip is
going to delay retirement by 10 years if the dollar does not rebound :-(

Actually, I am willing to stay in Paris but I really just love trains and
have only dont the the TGV 2x 10 years ago on the barge in Burgundy. And I
really love the trains. I am a 52 year old 4 year old.

Indeed it is, Steve, to such an extent that I took the Eurostar from
London for a daytrip to Paris. What decadence!

Used to spend to much time in London on business...and, the food is better
in France.
