Default TN: '03 Ch. La Roque

With an early Fall dinner of grilled ribeyes, corn and lobster ravioli
(eaten without wine), we opened:

2003 Ch. La Roque Pic St. Loup
nose: cherries
palate: cherries, briery, gritty tannins, good acidity

This is one of the '03 wines I bought, and I opened it tonight with some
trepidation. However, the youthful tannins proved to be a good match
with the grilled steaks, and there was plenty of acidity to keep the
wine fresh. The one effect of the vintage was to turn its fruit profile
from its normal blueberry character to more of a cherry (a la CdP).
Altogether enjoyable, and a great way to cap a day that was spent
watching Purdue's football team extend Notre Dame's record-setting
losing streak.
