Default Papaya question

I found papaya on sale, cheap, at the supermarket, and I bought one.
However I've never had papaya before, at least not AFAIK, and I have
no idea as to how to handle a fresh papaya. I've seen them on sale
before, but refrained from buying them due to not knowing how to
handle them.

Can anyone help me with this?
