Can't read the article, but I imagine it's because cat eyes in the window
glowing at night can make someone think they're demonic, so they think
demons are meowing at them all the time. Then the rest of the madness sets
in.

No, it's the old Toxoplasmosis boogeyman again. I suppose it's too much
