Default Reviews on my last order from SpecialTeas

I've been meaning to post this:

Pu-Erh Tuo-Cha (No. 590)
posted 20040503
interesting but maybe just as a curiousity

Decaf Darjeeling (No. 881)
posted 20040503
excellent, especially for decaf

Goomtee FGTFOP-1 First Flush Darjeeling (No. 103)
The color of this can only be described as golden. It's a
yellow-orange that has a hint of green all through it.
The aroma is that of good Darjeeling (which is only
fitting). The leaves after brewing smell like asparagus.
The flavor is light and clean, with a non-tannic
astringency; very like a green tea, which might be
predictable given the rather green color of the leaves.
As it cools, it sweetens, but this may involve recent
foods eaten.
Overall, a nice, superior tea.

Tsar's blend (No. 816)
Mostly black tea (Keemun?) with silver-needles threads.
This is okay. Not sweet, not thin. Has a bit of a
cinnamon/nutmeg aroma.

Tukdah FGTFOP-1 First Flush Darjeeling (No. 114)
Very light colored, simply a dark yellow.
Good leathery/woody aroma of a great darjeeling.
Thin flavor. No sweetness when hot. Complex, but not
awe inspiring.
This is terrific to sit and enjoy the aroma, but to drink
it's almost pedestrian.

Kenilworth OP Single Estate Ceylon (No. 317)
The aroma of the used leaves is exactly like freshly made
Lipton iced tea. The cup itself is not very aromatic
at all.
The color is a deep sienna with an olive ring on the
meniscus (in a white cup). Quite pretty; reminds me of
the fader scheme I used to use in Cheetah-Chat, or the
eyes of a former girlfriend I should never have left.
The flavor is that of good basic tea. Slightly tannic
but not too astringent, just the lightest sweetness.
Again like Lipton's, maybe well-made Lipton's iced tea on
a sweltering day when it was most welcome.
(This was the one they included as a freebie.)

Almond tea
Black tea with almond flavor (chunky-style!). Very,
very almondy. This stuff stuck around for hours, even
re-invading my flavor senses when I was later eating
buffalo wings and drinking Killian's Irish Red Lager.
I happen to really dig this sort of sweet almond-paste
taste, so this isn't unpleasant.

Sungma FGTFOP-1 First Flush Darjeeling (No. 143)
I tried this but I can't remember a thing about it.
Which might say something. I think I recall it being a
hearty, almost savory cup. Not as chewy or wooden as a
breakfast blend, but sort of an Ikea-designed clean-lined
version of that branch of the teas.
