Default Brie & Apple French Toast

Brie & Apple French Toast

submitted by and thanks to Ronni Gray

Makes 12 sandwiches

6 eggs

2 cups milk

1/8 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1 long loaf French Bread

1/2 Golden Delicious apple

1 medium wedge brie cheese

Slice French bread into 24 1/4” slices and place 12 slices in a large
baking dish. Set the other 12 pieces aside. Core apple and thinly
slice into 12 pieces. Place 1 apple slice on each piece of French
bread in baking dish. Cut 12 1/8” slices of brie, removing waxy outer
coating and place 1 slice on each apple-topped piece of bread. Place
remaining 12 bread slices on top of brie. In blender, mix eggs, milk,
nutmeg and cinnamon well. Pour egg mixture over brie and apple
“sandwiches” turning the “sandwiches” to insure coating well on both
sides. Allow bread to soak up all the egg mixture evenly. Cook on
lightly oiled, covered griddle preheated to 360 degrees. Place
“sandwiches” brie side down, turning once after cheese has begun to
melt. Toast should grill to an even golden brown. Serve immediately
with fresh berries, bacon and warm maple syrup.
