Default Finnish Stew South Carelia Style

Hi,

this is the first time I came accross this group and since founding it
very resourcefull decided to contribute to it. Here is a recipe for stew
my grandmom and my mom used to make for sunday lunch:

1 Kg (2 lbs.) of stewing beef (braising beef or mixture of beef and pork.
Original recipe calls for beef, pork, kidneys and liver)
1 finely chopped onion
about 20 whole black peppercorns
1 tsp pf salt
water
In addition you can add carrot, suede, celeriac, parsnips and other root
vegetables

Put all the ingredients in a casserole dish, cover with water just
slightly over the ingredients and stew in oven, 160C, for four hours.
(Oven doesn't even have to be pre-heated!) Serve with mashed potatoes or
macaroni or other pasta or rice. Simple but good comfort food.
