Default O.T. Hodges Chili

> The chili recipe from O.T. Hodges Chili Parlor in St. Louis, Mo.
> Many thanks. Thomas in Maryland.

O.T. Hodge Chile Parlor's do not make their own chili. They buy Edmond's
Beef Chili, in a 5 pound log/roll; the condensed beef chili is then mixed
with water to achieve the right consistency to serve. Some grocers in the
St. Louis area carry the same chili in a 1 pound log (similar to the
packaging of pork sausage). This same chili is also sold at Big Ed's
Chili Mac Diner. To improve your chances of finding the recipe, search
for O.T. Hodge, Big Ed's or Edmond's Beef Chili. Alternatively, you could
contact Edmond's Chile Co, 3236 Oregon Ave, St Louis, MO 63118 , (314)
772-1499 and see if you could mail order 1 or 5 pound logs.

Though not the chili recipe, here's a recipe you can use the chili for,
when
you find it:

2 doz. White Castle hamburgers; quartered.
1 pound reconstituted OT Hodge chili
8 oz. fine shredded cheddar, in a thin layer on a serving platter
small onion, diced fine, mixed into cheddar (optional)

Heat chili in fondue pot. Stab a quarter of a White Castle with the
fondue stick and emerse in chili, then dip chili coated morsel in cheese.
Eat and repeat. Best served with ice cold root beer, in a frosty mug; in
order of preference - IBC, Fitz's, or A&W. Serves 6
