Coming out of deep lurk mode with a bit of a puzzlement.
I have a dinner tonight where the theme is Peruvian food. I am bringing one main dish (Huatia) and one appetizer, which is Ceviche. According to most recipes I perused, this is traditionally served with small ears of corn on the cob on a bed of lettuce, but as a pratical matter, there will be (a) way too much food as it is, and (b) corn is very out of season in my neck of the woods. One thought was to serve it on the bed of lettuce alone, but somebody suggested a flat bread. So I start looking and can't find any bread recipes for Peru. I would have assumed that they would have SOMETHING; I've never heard of a people that doesn't. I asked the only folks I know who have spent time there, but they were so far up in the Andes that they didn't know the Peruvians even ATE things like Ceviche or beef. (On the other hand, they offered several recipes for goat and guinea pig...) So, what is it? Dinner is tonight, and I need to find something. Thanks, David |

Thanks for the reply. I knew, of course, that they ate bread; every culture has some kind of bread in their diet. I just didn't know what kind. |
