I would have preferred the bread toasted, buttered, and honey instead of
jelly. Oh, and a beer. :~)

Damn, that sounds good! I might do that....only with raspberry jam and skim
milk.

Default Breakfast this morning

Fresh salsa leftover from our Mexican dinner Sunday night provided my
poaching liquid for juevos rancheros.
Olive oil brushed corn tortillas toasted in the oven provided a nice
crunchy base.

Juevos rancheros is definately a nice breakfast to make to use up that
leftover salsa.

Coffee... of course. Kev

2 eggs sunny-side up, a smoked pork chop, hash browns, toasted "English
muffin" bread, and grapefruit juice.

No caffeine yet; I might address that deficiency by and by...

A cheese sandwich (havarti on single grain rye) and a cup of dark tea.

The day after my cookie exchange I let the kids have cookies and a chocolate
spoon for breakfast. When I set their plates down and their eyes bugged out
I think I said, "Tis the season" also. LOL

Ya know, I've discovered that I was separated at birth from a lot of
the women in RFC. Looks like you were one of them. Mom must've had
quite the litter!

Speaking of grape jelly I made some this year for the first time and it is
SO good. Nearby farmer had the concord grapes. I bought a flat and the
kids drank juice and I made jelly.

Andy, if you're interested in purity as well as taste, never buy the
El Cheapo peanut butter! Look for a brand where the only ingredients
are PEANUTS! Dare to look at the ingredients in the Skippy jar?

Look for "Laura Scudder's".....PURE PEANUT BUTTER......nothing added!
Pay a few pennies more!

Peanut butter IS a junk food, no matter how the hippy hop - heads try to
naturalize and organi - cize it all up..don't let them tell you any
differently.

Reminds me of a crunchy chick I knew years ago, she was always going on
about how she was a strict vegetarian and oh how peanut butter is a great
protein and such a GREAT part of my diet etcetera...I said "Yeah, you can
substitute potato chips for all that pb and you'd STILL weigh 250
pounds...". Lol...

Last week Skippy was 99 cents on sale at my local Walgreen's drugstore, I
bought two jars. I ate ONE WHOLE JAR one night sitting here at the
computer, I got my fill of peanut butter for the next few months. The other
jar is at the back of the pantry, out of sight and out of mind. After that
pig - out the thought of eating peanut butter now makes me go "blech!"...but
one day I'll get a jones for pb and it'll be there waiting for me <)

There's just no way to be all self - righteous or even reasonable about
something that's basically a junk food. The fact that it's a junk food is
the basis of it's charm...

Reminds me of a Woody Allen movie "Sleeper" where after they wake him up
the news to him is after 2000 years, the safest food is a double
chocolate banana split... or something similar. Might have been a
different movie altogether, but you get the picture!

You got it right, Andy, that scene is indeed from Woody Allen's "Sleeper"!
I think red meat and cigarettes were also redeemed in the movie.

No "hippy hop-head" I, but I *do* pay attention to legitimate nutrition
news; nuts of all kinds, including good-quality peanut butter, ARE good
food -- in moderation. That last bit is essential.

Oh, and in Greg's last paragraph, one of the apostrophes is used incorrectly
