A Southern Foodie if....

You have more than 3 recipes that involve leftover grits.

You’ve ever used bacon fat as a condiment.

You have dessert recipes that start with, “fry a piece of fatback”…

You think pellagra is a congenital disease.

Anyone else care to add???

Bubba

You always make biscuits, not toast.

You offer friends several recipes that start, "take a cup of pecans..."

Your syrup is sorghum, not maple.

You don't stuff the turkey, you bake the dressing in a pan.

Your holiday ambrosia does not contain miniature marshmallows, sour cream, or
Cool Whip.

Erm... Did you mean Plugra?

Pellagra is a deficiency disease due to a lack of niacin.

You cook canned green beans for 30 minutes.

You think that "coleslaw" and "vegetable" are synonyms.

You can spend hours arguing whether the BBQ sauce should contain 1/4 or 1/3
cup of something.

You think that "tea" refers to a flavorless brown liquid saturated with
sugar.

You put ketchup on bright red hotdogs.

Bingo! Which, while corn has, can't be utilized in the natural
form....gotta either soak it in lye, or eat it with beans. Anyway...it
(pellagra) has been the bane of the South at various times and regions.
Most Southern boys are 25% corn by weight, anyway....but, if you're
poor...an all corn diet???? Bad.

And good they are, too! If ya have a lawn full of 'em and like 'em, try
putting upturned wash tubs/buckets over a bunch of new shoots, let 'em grow
in darkness, then use them. Luvvvverly.

I believe so, but it's one I've not tried yet, to make or drink! It's flower
heads mainly for the wine, isn't it?
