Default building a smoker

I'm wondering how you convert a regular Weber barbecue into a smoker.
I hope it can be easily done because I am hopeless at 'handy' type
things...
Thanks all,

You don't even say *which type* Weber... and by your own admission, 'handy'
you're not... better you simply obtain a separate smoker. Brinkman is good, and
inexpensive.

You don't need to convert anything - just cook with indirect heat.

Put the coals on one side of the BBQ, and the food on the grate on the other
side (with an aluminum drip pan underneath). Toss some wood chips on the
coals, or wrap them in foil and toss that on the coals.

Or, bank the coals on the both sides and put the food in the middle (above a
drip pan).

I assume that by smoker you mean a hot smoker, AKA barbecue.

Check your local library and see if they have the book "Smoke and Spice"
by the Jamisons. In that book there are directions, with illustrations,
on using a kettle as a BBQ device.
