Default 'friends' finale

I'm having a few friends over to watch this finale. Nothing fancy -
chicken wings, veggies & dip, cheesecake and of course, wine.

Ah yes, that is tonight, isn't it? Quesadillas here. Assorted cheeses,
shredded chicken, salsa and queso, beer and wine. And, saying goodbye to
"Friends" I wasn't a religious follower but I do have to say, it's been
a pretty good series.

I'm one of the few that has never seen the show so I'm not going to start
now. From the snippets I've seen, I don't think I missed anything.

I didn't even tape it. Last night was my 30 yrs awards dinner sponsered by
my company. I ate in a swanky hotel along with about 100 other people. Got
free liquor, a resonable meal and forgot to set up the machine before I
went to it.

Big Congrats on 30 years. The longest I've lasted with one company is
10 years. I've also had a few jobs that didn't last more than 2 dayze
before I was outta there.

Finally, someone else who never felt the need. I also never saw or got into
Seinfeld. Both were a waste of time to me and I'm glad they're over.
Fraiser is another show, that I have watched in the past, but has long past
it's shelf life. Raymond too.

Make that three. I've probably watched no more than 5 episodes in all
the years Friends was on the tube. Seinfeld & Fraiser....Probably
watched more of those since moving to Central America than I ever did
in the US....simply because we only have three English language
stations so choice is limited. Friends is here also..but about a year
or so behind the US networks.

Where's the coffee? Don't they get together in a coffee
house?

Damn, we forgot the coffee.

I do think though, a large part of the appeal is that it brought friends
families together for at least one night of 'togetherness'. My youngest
daughter was only 12 when this series began. A lot happens in 10 years and
I think we all felt that last night as we watched.

So it's an end of an era - for that reason I'll miss it!

Default OT - Friends finale

Everything that's hyped is overhyped, and the Friends finale was no
exception. I wasn't interested at all when the show first started. It
was wildly popular, and, typical for me, I'm never interested in
anything that's wildly popular-- until it's past prime, overcooked and
a done deal. Then I get curious. (NOW I'm a Beatles fan.) After 10
years, I started watching and wanted to catch up on the reruns.

Part of the appeal for me was in the lack of Hollywood scandal behind
the scenes. There was the bit about prescription drug addiction, but
there's been no backbiting and nastiness between the stars themselves.
They appear to be good friends. There's something refreshing in that.

What, no big cups of coffee and muffins the size of softballs?

Okay, please enlighten me... what they hell is a 'latte'? Last time I
checked, it was expresso sweetened and served with cream and sometimes
spiked with cinnamon or similar. But, apparently in order to be a latte,
you need to serve it in a mug large enough to fly a small plane into and be
displayed prominently on "Friends"

I think I prefer demitasse... the coffee doesn't get cold and the cups are
so cute!

Lattés do not necessarily have to be served in cups large enough for a
main course, nor do they usually contain sugar, cinnamon, or cream. As
with many imports to the US, the hype of the vendors has *******ized a
very simple beverage. The typical café latté contains nothing more than
hot steamed whole milk and hot espresso in a ratio of about 4:1.

They above cover the amount of coffee I drink in the mornings. Yeah, they're
an affectation (since the coffee would stay hotter longer in a series of
multiple small mugs than in one gihugic one) but they're great for ice
cream...
