buying a BBQ

Hi all,

I'm considering buying a bbq. I thought I might go for one that uses hot
coals to cook as opposed to gas ones.

Can the hot coal ones come in larger sizes as opposed to the small webber ones?

Well...
I have the wood/charcoal burning type,
and I can fit an entire 8 month old emu carcass in mine. ;-)

It's a New Braunfels Smoker with the fire box on one side.
I HAVE used it for grilling also in the main chamber by adding
fire boxes to the bottom under the grills.

Works great.

Mine is the Black Diamon model. :-)

Webers come in a variety of sizes, the 22-inch are pretty sizable. I
have a 17 and a 22. Webers are built like tanks, they'll last virtually
forever. I recently added a Weber Smoky Mountain for real BBQ action.

I just got a WSM last summer. It sits right beside the Weber Silver
Genesis. hmmm, now that you mention it, I haven't done any que for a
while. Think that I'll fire that sucker up tomorrow. Thanks for the
reminder.

Oh, and I totally agree with Brian about the quality of Weber and from
first hand experience I can say that their customer service is outstanding.

I've got a Weber 37 inch kettle, although I don't see that model anywhere,
anymore. I bought it about 8 or 9 years ago. :)

Me too, I've got stuff in the freezer that needs to come out and meet
the smoke. Turkey breast, corned beef, a picnic . . .

Fortunately, I haven't had to deal with them, but by all accounts they
do a fantastic job.

We have the same NB model smoker. We LOVE ours and use it pretty often
(never used it for grilling, though).

I added some extra pans to put the coals in and grill in the main smoker
chamber rather than using the fire box. I added the pans to protect the
bottom so it would not get burned out.

It works well for just about anything. ;-) Just open the fire box
damper and the chimney cap to get good air flow thru when you close the
lid.
