Martha Smacked For Smuggling

Martha Stewart is becoming quite the jailbird gourmet and whips up dishes with
illicit ingredients she smuggles back to her cell by stuffing them down her
bra, according to a newspaper report Friday. The New York Post, which cited
anonymous letters by disgruntled fellow inmates, said the domestic queen --
imprisoned at the federal facility in Alderson, W.Va. for lying about a
well-timed stock sale -- has been caught with such contraband as brown sugar,
powdered sugar, cinnamon, butter and other food, all stashed away inside her
locker.

Other inmates, apparently ticked off that Stewart is getting away with such
behavior, told the Post the locker search was prompted when an associate turned
canary after Stewart balked at paying a kickback for the associate's smuggling
services. According to the letters, Stewart unwisely told the accomplice that
she wouldn't pay for the government's free stuff.

Prison officials told the Post they weren't aware of the shakedown but said
they couldn't comment on it anyway due to privacy laws.

Inmates tell the Post that Stewart sneaks condiments and small items out of the
cafeteria and back to her quarters by stuffing them in her bra, then uses a
kitchenette with a microwave to fashion the culinary treats.

The letters to the Post also say Stewart has been dubbed the Queen of
Contraband by fellow inmates because she hordes items in her room that are
off-limits to other prisoners at Camp Cupcake, as the West Virginia lockup is
otherwise known. They say Stewart has been grilled by officials at least three
times, twice for smuggling eggs and once for being too nice.
