Dinner 4/17/2021

The outside temperatures have dropped in the last couple of days from
around 80F a couple of days ago to about 65F and drizzling rain. I
picked up some broccoli at the grocery store yesterday and today it was
begging to be used in cheese soup.

One bowl with a slice of toasted sourdough bread for dipping filled me
up. Plenty of leftovers for a couple of days, too. :)

I made a veggie pizza.... pizza sauce, sliced red and green peppers, red
onion, jalapeno, mushrooms, mozzarella and Parmesan.

One thing I have learned about this pizza making is that the
instructions for the dough are a little lacking. I had been letting it
rise of an hour. The last couple times I let it rise for more than two
hours. The taste and texture of the crust are much better with the
longer rise.

I also learn to cut the vegetables much thinner so the cook thoroughly
in the time it takes to do the crust.

It was a pork sandwich here, Jell-O, and an apple.

you can also manipulate the cooking by using bottom or middle or top
rack. Middle is recommended, but if your bottom crust isn't crisp
enough, move to bottom rack, if the toppings aren't done enough, move
to the top rack.

Kung Pao chicken from an Amazon Fresh meal kit. Yes, I was lazy, but also curious about what $14.99 would get me. The verdict:

- must have been a pretty skinny chicken, about a cup of breast meat shards

- a few bits of veg, some white rice, a tepid sauce and about ten peanuts for topping

So, a flop. The ingredients - for what they were - were adequate, but for less I could get more and better ingredients and easily make my own...

OH, and this is advertised for feeding TWO, so even more lame:

The ones made by those little chinese restaurants are the best.

Please describe. Chinese restaurants hereabouts don't make sandwiches.

Why describe? Come to New York and you'll see here that many of them make burgers, fries, chicken and fish sandwiches. They even fry half chickens.

A Chinese restaurant that makes burgers sounds like a good idea. We went to a Chinese restaurant yesterday. They make a killer salad. We had crispy gau gee min with cake noodle, spicy eggplant, and stuffed bitter melon. It was a very good meal.

Char sui bao is the most popular bao here. The locals call it "manapua" which means "small pork thing."
