Where did you get the idea that I'd spoil a great sandwich with whiskey and coke? That's two combinations I've never cared for. |

I haven't had a deck railing, or a deck, for 4+ years. That first step out my back kitchen door drops almost 3 feet. We slide drinks across the kitchen floor to serve people at waist-level in the back yard. One of the boards in the deck gave out and my whole leg went through, ripping through my thigh and upper saphenous vein on a horizontal nail. It was a *huge* bloodbath, ambulance, fire trucks, and three days in the hospital. It didn't help that I was alone with my leg impaled on a nail in the back yard without a phone and the kitchen door was locked. So out of spite I ripped the whole deck down. But I could have saved the half of it (so Allstate tells me, and would have paid for it, *******s). The original owners doubled the size of the deck right after it was built and the tie-in between the 2 15-foot sections were shitty fishbone patterned 4" x 12" x 1" slats at an angle attached to 1/2 of a 2x4 joist in the middle (.75" to each side of the fishspine). And that's where I went though. And since you may remember the state of the railing, it's not hard to imagine the state of the cheap tie-in. So **** you!!!!! I've called "Olde World Decking" and they're going to come down from St Louis to replace my deck for a mere $131,113.31!! In the meantime I'm taking my most "important" pictures out on the front porch instead. https://postimg.cc/H8V3gpX6 -sw |

I used to work with a guy who had a similar accident on the dock at his cottage. It was a valuable lesson for me. Bill had worked there for about 30 years and had never taken a sick day. He took one for that, and the *******s hassled him over it because there is a policy that if you took a vacation day the day before or after vacation you had to have a doctor's note. > So **** you!!!!! I think that is what I will fix for dinner tonight. I've always got plenty of bratwurst in the freezer and we haven't had the peppers/onion combo in a long time. I just have to get some hoagi rolls from Albertsons. Janet US |
