Are you to be congratulated for doing what millions of Americans do daily
and with longer hours? When I worked it was 6:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m., for
3 days and off 4 for a month at a time. The next month it was the 6:00 p.m.
night shift until 7:30 a.m., for 3 days and off 4 for a month at a time. But that
also meant I worked a LOT of holidays, too. Many Sundays were also thrown
into the mix over the years as well.

But you didn't work 13½ hours a day, nor holidays, or Sundays.

When I had my own business, I would work as much as I could each week.
If they were living in the house, I'd take off weekends to give them a
break.

If it was a vacation house, and they weren't living there, I would work
7 days a week and long hours just to finish quickly.

My "weekends" were often taken inbetween jobs and not any certain days.
Just get the job finished then take a few days off before starting the
next one.

I'd much rather work an extra 3 hours one day to avoid having to go back
the next day for 3 hours to finish.

It was hard to adjust the first 2 months or so and the hours had me screaming
for sleep. But I did adjust and had no problems sleeping during the day. Yes,
the 4 days off were great!

Set the alarm for 5AM, get a couple of extra hours sleep and STFU about
it. You're not impressing anyone by setting an alarm clock for 3AM.
The job hours will only (maybe) start to impress if you actually keep
the same job assignment for more than a week.

Oh come on. If you had been out of work for as long as he has wouldn't
you be so excited that you would be up 4 hours early?

Waking up that early means he has time to ride a bicycle or take
public transport to his basket bear job. But instead he will happily
consume fossil fuels to go to his job.

But that would mean he's still an evil fossil fuel consumer.
