Gas ranges are still available for purchase that have a pilot light. Mine does
not have one; only a glow bar that takes electricity to open that solenoid
and spark that gas. The stovetop has electronic ignition for the burners but
they are easily lit with a match or one of those long-nose barbecue lighters
when the power is off.
