My son still can't stand the idea of eating chicken soup, but otherwise we're pretty much back to normal.

There's a third wave of Covid-19, for now predominantly being reported in the UK but I expect it to show up in North America if it hasn't already. People just couldn't stop gathering in large groups for "the holidays". Yeah, Covid-19 is the gift that keeps on giving. https://time.com/5929246/uk-coronavirus-third-wave/ /start tangent: Covid-19 has already been scientifically shown to be a *mutating* virus. So if you (the collective you) who have had it are counting on having built up antibodies or antigens, You probably shouldn't. Those who haven't had it (I haven't) who are counting on a vaccine, I wouldn't hold my breath. Covid-19, like many other viruses, shifts and changes. That's about the only thing Covid-19 has in common with "the flu". Think about how many different flu vaccines have been out there for decades. How many different vaccines and which to get? depends on the year. IMHO, Covid-19 appears to be shifting much faster even before there was a vaccine. That old "once a year" vaccine mentality isn't going to cut it with Covid-19. A vaccine is NOT the holy grail. This virus is complicated, tricky and above all, deadly. The word *virulant* is most fitting. Please don't think "vaccine! voila!" everyone will be able to stop wearing masks and stop social distancing and stop using common sense. This isn't over yet, folks. /end tangent Jill |

We owe President Trump a big thanks, as he got Operation Warp Speed up and running, and relatively quickly. Janet UK is suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome", she refuses to consider and weigh any facts, her emotional ravings here about the President's role in the COVID crisis renders her into the "moonbat" category...a simple goog search will prove that she is simply misguided. Here's one from Canada's CBC that refutes her, it is even - handed, as it praises OWS, while also critical of Trump in some respects: ""You can like or hate the Trump administration, but no doubt, it's a huge success €” unprecedented success..." https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/opera...cine-1.5806820 Why Trump's Operation Warp Speed is credited with helping race for COVID-19 vaccine Mark Gollom · CBC News · Posted: Nov 19, 2020 "Operation Warp Speed, a Trump administration initiative to manufacture COVID-19 vaccines as fast as possible, should be lauded as a successful endeavour in what has otherwise been a poor effort to deal with the coronavirus, experts say. "No doubt, Operation Warp Speed is a huge success," said Tinglong Dai, associate professor of Operations Management and Business Analytics at Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School in Baltimore. "You can like or hate the Trump administration, but no doubt, it's a huge success €” unprecedented success." Jesse Goodman, the former chief scientist of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, agreed that the U.S. government deserves credit for the high priority placed on Operation Warp Speed. "This is a bright spot in the pandemic response. I mean, the rest of it has been dismal," said Goodman, who is also director of Georgetown University's Center on Medical Product Access, Safety and Stewardship. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, also lauded Operation Warp Speed for being a "success €” certainly in the arena of vaccines, it's been a success" in his remarks at a recent virtual summit organized by the medical news site Stat. Launched in May, Operation Warp Speed (OWS) is a government initiated private/public $10 billion US program to help provide support to companies in the development, manufacturing and distribution of 300 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, with the aim of having initial doses ready by January 2021. On Wednesday, pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc. announced that new test results show its coronavirus vaccine is 95 per cent effective, is safe and also protects older people most at risk of dying. Earlier this week, biotech firm Moderna Inc. also announced similar effectiveness of its own vaccine candidate. The experts agree that Operation Warp Speed played a significant role in Moderna's development of a potential vaccine. "Without OWS, there would be no Moderna vaccine. Period," Dai said. Allison Winnike, president of the Texas-based Immunization Partnership, an organization providing advocacy and information about immunization initiatives, said that Moderna benefited tremendously from Operation Warp Speed, in part, by receiving close to $1 billion to support its vaccine development and clinical trials. "That really got them to where they are today," she said. As well, the U.S. government signed an agreement with Moderna as part of the Warp Speed initiative committing to the purchase of 100 million doses once a vaccine was approved. The clinical trial network to test Moderna's vaccine was also funded by money that came from Warp Speed, Goodman said. But Walter Orenstein, a former director of the U.S. Immunization Program and former deputy director for immunization programs at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, said Operation Warp Speed has played a major role by guaranteeing a market to Pfizer so it can begin developing its procedures for distribution. And that has taken some of the financial risk out of the process for companies such as Pfizer, he said. He agreed that the policy initiative is an exception to how the Trump administration has handled the pandemic and that his "personal opinion is [OWS] has helped substantially." "I've never seen an effort like this before," he said. "Never in my lifetime or my career certainly [have I] seen anything proceed this quickly. "I can't see this large an effort by this many companies going forward in this fashion without substantial support that has come [through] Operation Warp Speed." </> |

Can you cite some specific examples of what so called damage he has done? So called damage that the Democrats would not also have done? And when I say cite I mean credible information NOT from a compromised source? And can you please explain why in some DEMOCRAT controlled states you have ignored all the alleged Covid deaths as a direct result of their actions, such as forcing elderly to stay locked up in aged care facilities etc? None of which Trump had any control over? NOT expecting an answer from you---------------- |

None of which Trump had any control over? > NOT expecting an answer from you---------------- Thank you. She could start with explaining the botch that NY's Cuomo has made in the case of nursing home deaths. In a just society he'd be put on trial and punished for causing these deaths: https://nypost.com/2021/01/29/andrew...-home-defense/ Andrew Cuomos appalling nursing-home defense By Post Editorial Board January 29, 2021 €śIts not about pointing fingers or blame. This became a political football,€ť Gov. Cuomo said Friday in response to questions about Attorney General Tish James finding that the state vastly underreported COVID-19 deaths of nursing-home residents. €śWho cares,€ť he asked, if they died in a home or a hospital? €śThey died.€ť What a callous reaction to the deaths of thousands of senior citizens, which James found may have occurred because of Cuomos March 25 mandate forcing homes to take in COVID-positive patients. And if it doesnt matter where they died, why did Cuomo and his Health Department work so hard to obscure the number, stonewalling lawmakers demands and Freedom of Information filings for months? They certainly knew what it was, since Health Commissioner Howard Zucker finally released it the evening James report dropped: He said 12,743 nursing-home residents died or were presumed to have died from COVID-19 as of Jan. 19 €” validating James estimate of 13,000. But earlier in the day, the DOH Web site had that figure at 8,740. Can anyone truly trust Zuckers new numbers, or is there some other deception? Cuomos insane edict €” which he rescinded in May €” sent virus-positive patients into the states most vulnerable population, as Cuomo himself noted in saying the virus would spread in nursing homes like €śfire through dry grass.€ť Thats why families, and so many others, care how many nursing-home residents died. As for the govs supposed aversion to pointing fingers, he did it himself in the same press conference: €śIf you think there was a mistake, then go talk to the federal government,€ť he said, again pretending the feds made him issue that March order. €śWhere this starts is frankly a political attack from the prior federal administration€ť and its Health and Human Services spokesman, Michael Caputo. Even now that his coverup has been uncovered, Cuomo still cant apologize. He claimed Friday that everyone in his administration did everything they could to prevent deaths. But what he said earlier in the week was closer to the mark. €śIncompetent government kills people,€ť he declared in an interview. €śMore people died than needed to die in COVID. Thats the truth.€ť It certainly is..." </> |
