Default Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends. I hope that you all enjoy a
nice quiet dinner at home and that you avoid the busy airports and large
gatherings for your own safety.
We want you around for Christmas, so we can all miss the fun again.

I am going to my niece's house, 30 miles away, for the feast. It will be the first
time we've all been together since her mother, my sister-in-law, died in late
December. She and her husband have built a new house and we all get to
give it the once over when we get there.

Everybody is bringing a dish to the get-together. Ham from me.

Yup...EXACTLY...I am not scared of COVID at all, but I take the precautions to respect others...

The whole Covid lock - down scandemic thang is getting kind of "old"...many of our Dear Leaders (most all DEMS, I wonder why...!!!???}. In Illannoy, our twerp Shitcago mayor and our fata$$ billionaire governor have no qualms about jetting around the country, visiting their weekend homes in the "forbidden" states of Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin...while we peasants are supposed to hunker down and even wear masks at our T-day tables. When the occasional press conference question about these activities is asked, their response is always a huffy, "How DARE you question my PERSONAL/FAMILY life...!!!" Lol...

Here's the latest DEM scoundrel, typical story these daze (remember last week is was CA's Newsom who was caught at a fancy - schmancy dinner at the French Laundry; Cuomo had announced his elderly mother would visit for T-day, the press found out and he "rescinded" the invite...). **** Democrats, they DO NOT represent me or my interests. Can't wait for the Klown Kar Komedy Show of Sleepy Unca Joe and President Kameltoe Harris to begin next month, especially as regards the COVID sitch:

Denver mayor offers apology for Thanksgiving travel after urging residents to stay home
He recognized that many people were "disappointed" by his decision.

By Meredith Deliso
November 25, 2020, 8:10 PM

"The mayor of Denver apologized for traveling on Wednesday after having urged residents to stay home for Thanksgiving as COVID-19 cases surge.

On Wednesday, Mayor Michael B. Hancock headed to Mississippi to join his wife and daughter there, he said.

Earlier that day, the mayor told Denver ABC affiliate KMGH that during the holiday, "if you can, remain in your household. If you can, stay with those in your household." If you choose to travel, he said to "do what we've always been asking throughout the entire experience: Wear a mask, social distance and wash your hands."

He also advised residents to avoid travel "if you can" and to host virtual gatherings this Thanksgiving in a social media post on Wednesday.

Hancock did not mention his own plans to travel. In his mea culpa, the mayor said he should have.

"I fully acknowledge that I have urged everyone to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel," he said in a statement. "I have shared how my family cancelled our plans for our traditional multi-household Thanksgiving celebration.. What I did not share, but should have, is that my wife and my daughter have been in Mississippi, where my daughter recently took a job. As the holiday approached, I decided it would be safer for me to travel to see them than to have two family members travel back to Denver."

The news of Hancock's travels was met with calls of hypocrisy on Twitter. The mayor said he recognized that many people were "disappointed" by his decision.

"As a public official, whose conduct is rightly scrutinized for the message it sends to others, I apologize to the residents of Denver who see my decision as conflicting with the guidance to stay at home for all but essential travel," he said. "I made my decision as a husband and father, and for those who are angry and disappointed, I humbly ask you to forgive decisions that are borne of my heart and not my head."

Denver County has seen a surge in COVID-19 cases, with the seven-day moving average of new cases reaching a peak of 728 on Nov. 21, county data shows. The county is in the state's "level red" risk category, indicating a 14-day average positivity rate of between 10% and 15%..."

"President Trump on Wednesday issued his own Thanksgiving proclamation:

On Thanksgiving Day, we thank God for the abundant blessings in our lives. As we gather with family and friends to celebrate this season of generosity, hope, and gratitude, we commemorate Americas founding traditions of faith, family, and friendship, and give thanks for the principles of freedom, liberty, and democracy that make our country exceptional in the history of the world.

This November marks 400 years since the Mayflower and its passengers faced the unknown and set sail across the Atlantic Ocean. .€‰.€‰. These intrepid men and women endured two long months at sea, tired and hungry, to arrive in a new world full of potential. In the winter weather that greeted their arrival, they lost nearly half of their fellow travelers to exposure, disease, and starvation. Despite unimaginable hardships, these first Americans nevertheless remained firm in their faith and unwavering in their commitment to their dreams. They forged friendships with the Wampanoag Tribe, fostered a spirit of common purpose among themselves, and trusted in God to provide for them. The following year, they celebrated a successful harvest alongside their Native American neighbors €” the first Thanksgiving. . .€‰.

This year, as our Nation continues to combat the coronavirus pandemic, we have once again joined together to overcome the challenges facing us. In the midst of suffering and loss, we are witnessing the remarkable courage and boundless generosity of the American people as they come to the aid of those in need, reflecting the spirit of those first settlers who worked together to meet the needs of their community. First responders, medical professionals, essential workers, neighbors, and countless other patriots have served and sacrificed for their fellow Americans, and the prayers of our people have once again lifted up our Nation, providing comfort, healing, and strength during times of uncertainty. Despite unprecedented challenges, we have not faltered in the face of adversity. To the contrary, we have leveraged our strengths to make significant breakthroughs that will end this crisis, rebuilding our stockpiles, revamping our manufacturing capabilities, and developing groundbreaking therapeutics and life-saving vaccines on record-shattering timeframes. .€‰.€‰.

We also acknowledge those who cannot be with their families. This includes the brave American patriots of our Armed Forces who selflessly defend our sacred liberty at home and abroad. And we pause to remember the sacrifices of our law enforcement personnel and first responders. We are deeply grateful for all those who remain on watch over the holidays and keep us safe as we celebrate and give thanks for the blessings in our lives.

This Thanksgiving, we reaffirm our everlasting gratitude for all that we enjoy, and we commemorate the legacy of generosity bestowed upon us by our forebearers. Although challenges remain, we will never yield in our quest to live up to the promise of our heritage. As we gather with our loved ones, we resolve with abiding faith and patriotism to celebrate the joys of freedom and cherish the hope and peace of a brighter future ahead.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Thursday, November 26, 2020, as a National Day of Thanksgiving. I encourage all Americans to gather, in homes and places of worship, to offer a prayer of thanks to God for our many blessings.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-fifth day of November, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-fifth.€” DONALD J. TRUMP..."

That guy sure waited for the last minute to proclaim Thanksgiving! The entire nation held its breath to see if we could all have a day of thanks yet again this year. My guess is that it'll be seen as one of the major accomplishments of the Trump administration - truly, it is a historic moment!

Enjoy T - Day whilst you can...the leftist "cancel culture" is coming for Thanksgiving, branding it an evil colonialist relic of "white privilege"...

You don't have to worry about me. "Enjoy everything you can while you still can" is my middle name. This Thanksgiving, we must not forget that we have everything to be thankful for - the insane king trump has been vanquished.

Thank you.

We're doing what we do everything Thanksgiving: cooking for two.

My husband laughed when I said, "Every time someone says they'll miss
their extended family on Thanksgiving, I think, 'Come off it. You don't even
like those people'."

I'm surprised the leftist "cancel culture" has such power over you. I'll celebrate Thanksgiving
no matter what they say.

LOL true. You get to choose your friends but you are stuck with your
family and the in-laws. When it comes to family gatherings you are
expected to ask them all. You can't exclude the people you don't like. I
like my wife's family.... for the most part. But then there is the big
niece who just rankles me in so many ways. There has been at least one
gathering here that never got off the ground because my wife insisted
that he had to invite her and my insistence that I did not want her in
the house and if it came down to that we weren't going to host it.

We're lucky that way. We never got roped into hosting the holidays at our
house, so we just stopped going when we grew tired of it. We said, "The
holidays are too hectic and we never get to just sit and talk. We'll visit
you some random time."

Eventually all the traditional American holidaze will be banned, Cindy, we'll have to celebrate "underground" as Christians did in kommunist bloc Europe or the Jews in Nazi Germany...

That was not on my list of dishes to bring. I don't know a single person who has
had this virus but to listen to the CDC and WHO we'll all be dead in a week if we
don't knuckle under and do as they say. They've already admitted they've way
over estimated the number of cases. Just because you test positive, probably a
false/positive test, does not mean you'll be a full-blown case of coronavirus.

Toward the end of September I had to attend a funeral. Around 30-40 people
were in attendance with perhaps 4 or 5 wearing masks and those were generally
the elderly. Not a single case of Covid-19 has developed, nor a cough, fever,
sniffle, or sneeze.

That's why it's a SCAMDEMIC, Joan...only a few thousand have expired directly of COVID...all the rest had co - morbidities...the whole drama here in the States was cooked up by the MSM and liberal elites to drive Trump out of office. We are being lied to under the guise of "the science"...

For those who need protecting, then they need to be protected. Otherwise, open everything back up so we can get back to some relative normalcy...

Thanksgiving means: "Yay, we've killed the local people, now let's go
after the local bird! Thank you, God!"

For non-social people, like me, social distancing comes easy. But most
people need the company of others on a regular basis.

(snippage)

In my case, I was expected to *go to them all". When I was married my
husband's family expected us to go to multiple homes and eat at every
single one. Wound up at four (or was it five?) different homes of
relatives. One aunt lived with her two daughters in a crappy public
housing project with linoleum floors. This "aunt" served a platter of
government cheese and some crackers. Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving.

From there, we went to his parents house where his mother served runny
bread dressing and some sliced turkey in gravy. We ate at a dinette set
that came from Shoney's restaurant in the kitchen. Happy Thanksgiving.

Then off to the grandparents house out in the country. That was actually
nice. Collierville, TN. His grandmother cooked a turkey and made from
scratch dressing and gravy. By this time, though, I was tired of being
dragged from house to house, having to eat a little something
everywhere. I was not hungry. I sat on the porch while they all ate
again and again.

We wound up at at an uncles house in Germantown (an affluent area). By
then I was really tired and not at all inclined to eat even an
appetizer, much less eat more "Thanksgiving" anything. I found these
family obligations extremely annoying.

I married lucky. My husband doesn't particularly like his family and feels
no shame about staying home. I'm the same way.

It goes without saying that the vast distances involved limits our options in fulfilling our family obligations.

I only had my immediate family in the area - my parents and one brother
- no extended family who expected to visit or be visited. I prefer
things quiet and simple, not traipsing from house to house or having a
huge gathering of people.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R)
has often followed the lead of President Donald Trump by disregarding
science and the public health warnings regarding the coronavirus
pandemic.

In Noems state, there is no mask mandate and very few mitigation
guidelines are in place. Now, South Dakota has the highest coronavirus
death rate in the world

" As of the department's last update on Nov. 25, there were 15,312
active cases of COVID-19 in South Dakota, with 570 people in hospitals
statewide and a total of 849 deaths caused by the virus."

South Dakota pop. 885,000 570 in hospital.
Ontario Canada pop. 14.7 million 556 in hospital.

Ontario's rate of infection is rising, just as had been predicted after
Thanksgiving. They figured that large gatherings would lead to a lot of
people catching it and then each of them passing it on to multiple other
people. The province order a lock down for three regions that had the
highest rates, Toronto, Peel, York,

No indoor gatherings with anyone outside a person's household.
Individuals who live alone can have close contact with one other household.
Outdoor gatherings are limited to 10 people.
Restaurants are limited to take-out, drive-through and delivery only.
Religious services, funerals and weddings are limited to 10 people
indoors or 10 people outdoors.
Gyms are closed.
Non-essential retail and malls are limited to curbside pickup or
delivery only.
Personal care services, casinos and bingo halls are closed.
Post-secondary institutions move to virtual instruction, with some
exceptions, such as clinical training.
Pharmacies, doctor and dentist offices, grocery stores, essential
services remain open.
Schools will also remain open.

There were six of us at my son's house next door. No need to add others.
I talked to a friend this morning and she is eating alone. Her
grandson's school was closed as one of the kids and a teacher came down
with Covid so she is keeping distance too.

I'm hoping the vaccine starts soon and finally changes how we live.

I called my aunt in Florida yesterday because it was her 96th birthday.
One of her neighbours had cooked a turkey and brought her a dinner with
turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy.... the works, all in a
container she could heat up for herself when she wanted to eat it.
