A 1/4 lb. ground chuck burger seasoned with S&P, a scant sprinkling of
garlic powder, cooked in a small cast iron skillet with a splash of Worcestershire sauce. Cooked to medium rare and topped with a slice of sharp cheddar. Served on a toasted whole wheat bun. Lays kettle chips on the side but yes, also a couple of potato chips ON top of the cheeseburger. I've been adding potato chips to burgers since I was a kid. It's not the same thing at all as adding french fries or onion rings on a sandwich, BTW. It's the crunch from the chips that makes the difference. I like them that way. Also plain. No condiments, no lettuce, tomatoes, pickles. Just the beef and the cheese and the toasted bun and the potato chips. ![]() Jill |

But keep the cheese and give me a slice of onion, please. Tonight's dinner will be a broccoli-rice casserole with a largish boneless skinless chicken breast cubed and mixed in and baked. Also a skillet of cornbread and sliced tomatoes to round out dinner. |

I went to Butcher & Bird in Kakaako the other day. It was in a pretty cool space that the young adults will find instantly comfortable/lounge-able. I wasn't able to stay long at the place but the next time I get there, I'll have to get their double burger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzWAgBd4mcA |

I think this is the best hummus I have ever made. I did it the normal way with chick peas, tahini, lemon juice and pepper. I toasted some cumin seeds and then pounded them in the mortar and pestle and added them and a few good dashes of Habanero sauce. Delicious. |

The usual rice, ground beef and diced tomatoes for filling + garlic, s&p and basil. The sauce was simply Hunts tomato sauce with olive oil, oregano, basil, garlic and a smidge of salt. They were good, but the peppers were so small. I like it better when the peppers are huge. Janet US |

When I make them at home, they get the works although I rarely add cheese. Fresh bun (not whole wheat). Mayo, ketchup, mustard, raw onions, tomato and iceberg lettuce (for the crunch) The meat is cooked with Worcestershire sauce, S&P Best ones ever made with ground sirloin. Fries, onion rings or chips on the side, not the burger. Pickle slices sometimes but also on the side. Not criticizing what you made at all. Just telling my favorite homemade version. |
