On a serious note...
don't you ever get tired of garlic potatoes, John?

I made them once. Very tasty but I tired of the taste even
before I finished the one batch. Never since. I like plain
mashed potatoes.

I wouldn't get tired of potatoes. I love that stuff! Unfortunately, they don't serve much potato dishes on this rock. I sure won't make potato dishes. I love to eat potatoes but the thought of having to prepare them makes me feel ill!

We made them a few times. We really enjoyed them, and then we tired of
them. We don't eat a heck of a lot of potatoes to begin with. If it
weren't for different potato dishes we would probably have them a lot
less often.

dsi1 loves to eat potatoes but the thought of preparing potatoes makes
him feel ill? What a stupid thing to say. I doubt anyone cares about
the potato dishes served (or not) on that rock. Dude needs to move away
from the limited rock ideas.

At any rate, John isn't talking about garlic *mashed* potatoes. He's
talking about scalloped potatoes and he adds garlic to the cream sauce.
Still the same darn potato dish constantly. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I like potatoes. They're very versatile. I don't prepare the same darn
thing week after week and crow about it. Just wait, he'll make those
beans again and then pile them together and yell about how it's
"vegetarian". Y A W N.

Mostly, I meant that I like potato dishes because we don't get served around here. We can get French fries all over the place but that's about it. The good news is that we can get mashed potatoes at KFC. The bad news is that it's KFC mashed potatoes.

Don't grocery stores there stock potatoes in their fresh vegetables section???
They don't have them for sale in mesh or the sealed heavy paper bags??? If
nothing else buy a box of those Ore-Ida brand potato flakes. They can be
doctored up as heavily as you like with butter and cream.

Potatoes are not grown on the islands??

Which are reconstituted powdered potatoes. Those are easy and cheap,
and don't taste appreciably different from the boxes they're packaged in.

I wasn't always a food snob. When I was in my 20s, I smoked cigarettes,
which meant that I could consume awful food w/o finding it objectionable.
Imagine working 3rd shift, and lunch being a whole package of this:
https://www.innit.com/nutrition/banq...00031000113025
instant mashed potatoes and instant coffee. Then I'd go home and chug
super cheap swill beer.

His aren't mashed potatoes, more like scalloped potatoes with garlic
added to the cream sauce. Still, I get your point. He tends to eat the
same thing over and over. B O R I N G.

Yeah. Potatoes are native to South America. Why would Italians cook with
a food from South America?
