Default So I got up early today

Ive had trouble sleeping lately. When I wake up, Im not sleepy, so I
get up and get things done until I get sleepy. Sometimes, I watch TV. Then I
go to bed. I can be up at any time of night or day.
Today, I got up at 4:45 AM and by 7:00 AM I had cooked and mashed potatoes,
put them in an oval, shallow ceramic dish and threw them in the fridge for
tonights dinner. I made a meatloaf and stored that in the fridge as well.
I dumped some canned Italian flat beans into a microwave safe container and
added butter, salt and pepper. I chucked that into the fridge.
I killed two hours watching TV and then cracked open a beer. Which brings me
to my question. What does everyone expect to do for Halloween. Will you be
serving candy, partying or hunkered down?

Do you not have that holiday?

Halloween - October 31
Time change - November 1
Election Day - November 3

What an exciting week in store for USAians.

No cold weather predicted either in my area
so no wood smoke issues to deal with for now.

Probably just another night down here in The Holler . AFAIK there are
only 3 kids here and we've never had any T or T'ers before so ... but my
wife did get a small bag of candy just in case .

You totally blew it! You could have reduced your TV time to only
one hour, and done a hot, sweaty, naked 60 minutes on the
Nordictrack.

Nothing. In past years. they did Trunk Or Treating here. Everyone who does

By my standards that's sleeping in. But I have an 8-5 job, so our situations
are different.

I woke up early this morning (3:30) and lazed around until the alarm went
off at 4:00.

Nice use of the extra time.

Same as usual. Hunkering down, since there are no trick-or-treaters
in our neighborhood and no Halloween parties to go to.

I doubt any parents will let their kids do trick-or-treat
this year. People really shouldn't do parties either.

I'll probably find something decent to watch on TV while
snacking on cheap 7-11 pepperoni pizza.

I am not at all snobbish about those cheap 7-11 pizzas... they can be goosed up with extra stuff and are okay. My regular pizzeria sells the same size for about $25.00...

Pizza ingredients are cheap, thus a very high - profit item...

It's pretty easy to make pizzas that are way better than convenience
store ones.

I'll be hunkered down but also doing the candy thing (see below). On
October 1st I hung out the Black Cat in the Moon Flag and strung blinky
eyeball lights in the recently trimmed shrubs out front. I turn those
on at dusk and off at bedtime.

If it doesn't rain on Halloween I plan to set a bowl with a bunch of
candy on top of a tallish box at the end of the driveway. I've drawn a
Jack-O-Lantern on the box. I bought a huge bag of mixed chocolate
candy. Oh, I've also got a bunch of small snack size packages of Corn
Nuts to put in the bowl. I have enough stuff to refill the bowl three
or four times if folks don't get greedy. Lots of people on my street
walk their dogs several times a day. There will be a sign saying
"People Treats" (I don't want their dogs getting into the chocolates).
I do hope it doesn't rain!

Last year we had three kids come by. This year I bought the full size
Hershey bars. For just a few kids I can splurge.

Same here. We had no kids at all for more than twenty year. Two years
ago the neighbours' kids came by, and last year we had only the sons of
the owner of the nursery behind us and his four kids.

Our big problem is what to get, something with milk chocolate that kids
like or something with dark chocolate, which I like. My wife found a
way for me to avoid being tempted by the leftovers. She got Smarties. I
am not likely to eat those. If they had been Skors bars I would probably
eat them all before Halloween.

My wife brought home a bag of fun-size (left) Twix last time she
grocery shopped ... I wasn't even thinking about Halloween when I opened
it and ate a couple ... We've never had T or T'ers down here in The
Holler , I thought she got 'em for me !

We vary a lot here too with kids. We are getting reeces pieces and
York Peppermint Patties.

We don't get enough kids to over a variety like that. in the last two
years we had a total of 7 or 8 kids, and none over the previous 20 years
we had none at all. My wife rarely eats chocolate and I don't like milk
chocolate.

Oh, they go bad alright. You might still consider those Snickers to be "fun" but you're just going to make the kids cry and the adults will come out from quarantine to hunt you down. Don't even think about it!

He should hand out the 10 lbs of toffee that Raquel didn't buy from him.
