From a distance, the US looks like a country that's going to shit. But
maybe that's not something one experiences locally in one's daily
life.

I don't like the idea of the US going to shit, because before and
after Trump it's the only half-decent superpower there is. The Russian
and Chinese regimes are barbaric.

Would I be overly optimistic in asking you how Trump was responsible
for ANY of the rioting? Yes, I would.

ALL of the violence has been instigated by the BLM/Antifa/far left.

Unless you can find some riots started by right wing extremists, or
even anyone NOT aligned with those aforementioned groups? Because I
can't. Not yet, at least. But a centre/right wing response is probably
not far away now.

>If you don't like what you see, you better think hard about the kind of America you want and vote accordingly.

Hmm. What a novel concept.

Here's another good one, LOL. These groups will invariably turn on
themselves when they have no one left to attack:

"Antifa torches Portland mayor's apartment on his birthday"

As leftists still claim that the Portland protests are "mostly
peaceful," rioters last night continued to loot, vandalize, and set
residences ablaze—this time the apartment building where Mayor Ted
Wheeler lives and on his birthday.

A Portland resident who has worked downtown for 15 years asserted that
his place of employment on campus is "safe and sound."

"The buildings are not on fire. There is not lawlessness in the
streets. Most folks are still social distancing and trying to stay
home. Like every other city in the United States," tweeted Nick Walden
Poublon, a self-described health advisor and advocate for Portland
State University and a Biden-Harris supporter.

However, a few blocks away, a building was very much on fire as a
tightly-packed crowd with very little social distancing ventured
outside their homes to torch their elected official's home and that of
numerous other Portland civilians.

Over the weekend, protestors had occupied the Portland mayor's
apartment building to demand his resignation. When the lock-in
demonstration in Wheeler's apartment lobby failed, agitators attempted
to burn his residence down with children reportedly living in the
complex.

Last month, Wheeler was tear-gassed by federal agents as he attempted
to join his fellow demonstrators at a police brutality rally, claiming
he “saw nothing that provoked this response” even as rioters set the
Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse on fire.

Conservative media analyst Mark Dice noted: "Frankenstein has turned
on its master."

27, but 25 are driven off and we lose 6 to natural causes or ennui.

Remember, if America goes down to whatever the hell is going on here, a less
beneficent country will take over. Nobody will ever leave you alone. Count on
it. Youre a strategic landing strip between Asia and America.

Maybe da rock would be useful as a nuclear test range. It's big
enough for hundreds of shots before disappearing like bikini atoll.

Thank you! I was worried that small business owners were being burned out,
windows were being broken, vehicles being set on fire and a black youth was
shot dead and prohibited from being retrieved. I heard that people within the
CHOP zone were being extorted for money in their own residences.
So, this was all right wing propaganda and the videos were fake. Good to
know. Keep us informed!
I see that your Chief of Police resigned today. You all must feel very proud.

We'll tackle that problem when America decides to give the Hawaiians their freedom. My guess is that the rich Americans will come here and steal the land again. Then, we'll just move to Jamaica.

Jamaica is a nice place. The only mean nasty old americans you'll
have to put up with are just tourists.

In a timely coincidence, my attention was drawn this morning to this report:

<https://acleddata.com/2020/09/03/demonstrations-political-violence-in-america-new-data-for-summer-2020/>

The text can probably be discounted for its liberal slant, but the data indicate that 93% of
BLM demonstrations were peaceful.

Trump isn't the cause; he's the symptom. You can assign blame all the way back to
Goldwater, but I assign most of the blame to talk radio and Fox News. Their "infotainment"
has brainwashed two generations of Americans.

Of course entities like the Texas state board of education don't help, either:

"We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the students fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority. I don't really care about Jeßus. He can't vote in U.S. elections.

Do you listen to right-wing media? I don't. Most tv news is
left wing and that's what I watch.

I listen/watch for a summary of world news today, never listen
to political discussion shows. I'm not interested what they say
I can make up my own mind.

I don't listen to any media. I read the news.

I fairly often visit Fox News, but rarely and farther right than that.

That's an interesting thought: all this has nothing to do with the president. It doesn't matter who gets elected? Well that's reassuring - I was so worried about that!

Americans are very inward oriented. Most people from big countries
are. People from smaller countries tend to look further than their own
country.

That might be true. I got opinions on how other countries should be run. I'm not going the state them because that would be disrespectful. The reality is that yoose guys got no dog in this race. Here's your dog race.

Just about everything you say is disrespectful. Enjoy!

That's awesome. I'll do my best to forward that link to the tens of
thousand of perfectly innocent people who've had their homes,
businesses and personal property destroyed by the other 7%. I'm sure
that'll make them feel better. And those who've been killed? Guess I
could try a seance.

Have you looked at OAN ? Very little opinion , just a presentation of
facts in their newscasts . I haven't watched anything else on their
channel . BTW , if you use ROKU or other streaming services they're
letting people watch 8 channels over at KlowdTV.com for free until the
end of the year . OAN is one of them .

OAN can express its opinion by the choices it makes in what to cover.

I don't watch or listen to news. I read it.

I'm with you, I prefer to read my news. I'll only watch the local nooze stations for weather, etc. I'll watch the Sunday morning news programs - Chris Wallace on Fox is my fave - but those are more opinion shows than news...
