Did you have a technical problem posting or a psychological one?

He doesn't know how to revert back to the old groups format.

Remember, not just any computer engineer, but a cannabis computer
engineer.

Intellectual.

Google groups is trying out a new appearance. He can't figure out
how to switch back to the old look.

I tried it and didn't like it, so I switched back. I suppose eventually
GG will make the new look mandatory so I'll just get used to it.

Strange. Bryan says John's very intelligent and he knows him better
than any of us. Maybe it's the medication.

I think he is easily flustered, either because of the medication or
because of his bipolar disorder. Once flustered, he can't
see his way out of a difficulty.

True, a technical problem. When Squertz from Google called me, he clarified that with me and once again in the OLD groups format I could post again.

Which I do now!

Squertz from Google called me and clarified switching back to the old Googlegroups format with me, in which I can post again.

Squertz from Google must be Sqwertz from RFC.

It happens often. Must be strong medication.

You could get a real newsreader and use one of the free or low cost news
servers . e-s is free and blocknews is very very reasonably priced . I
use both ...

But he's a computer engineer! If Google Groups has him flustered I
guess it explains why he had such a difficult time with the charting
software at his job.

Psssst... Sqwertz isn't "from" Google, John. He doesn't even use Google
Groups to post.

A computer engineer degree from 1995 is totally worthless
unless he kept up with changing technology which he hasn't.

He's obviously very intelligent - I mean, how many degrees do yoose guys have? OTOH, being perplexed by modern technology seems to be universal in old folks. Being perplexed by humans and relationships seems to be universal in brilliant people. I don't see any mystery at all.

My father-in-law was a computer wiz but he never got the hang of Windows OS and high level programming languages. He used to lick his plate of ice cream clean. That gave my wife PTSD. Is there anything more traumatizing to a daughter than daddy licking their plate? I think not.

I'm older than John and I figured out how to get the old GG appearance
back. Sure, I only have one degree, but I've actually been working
in that field for the last 20 years.

There's a difference between being intelligent and being smart.

You're saying that some people are intelligent but not smart but you're smart - not intelligent? My guess is that intelligent people are not interested in talking about other people. Stupid people are.

Yep, and he no longer points it out. <whew>

If Google wants to change the interface he'll just have to adapt. Thank
goodness "squertz from Google" saved the day so he can keep on posting.

You could have asked here and gotten an answer. Oh, I forgot! You don't
know how to ask a question without ranting, raving, cussing, and flinging
yourself on the floor and kicking your feet.

I'm older than both of you and I have no degree and I figured out the first
2 minutes when they introduced the new groups how to get back to the old
format. All without cussing somebody out!

You post with Google Groups? But your (and Cindy's) posts look
civilised compared to the other Google Groupers.

Some people are both smart and intelligent.

You talk about people. What does that make you?

Some of us are courteous enough to hit Enter every 80 characters
or so, since Google Groups doesn't do it for us.

OTOH, I'd hit Enter about that often anyway because I'm habituated
to it.

I knew you did that and it makes all the difference. But Greg Sorrow

I learned how to type in the 60's so I know my way around a carriage return.. In the 80's I learned that forcing a carriage return would only cause formatting problems with text. I won't be forcing carriage returns on general principle. It's the year 2020 and nobody should have to do that - at least, not with text. Of course, using the enter key is acceptable between paragraphs.

My suggestion is that people get a modern newsreader or use Google Groups. While they're at it, I suggest they dump Windows too.

Ditching Windows is the most rational thing to do. You use power hungry computers that are slow and buggy and uses a crap load of energy to keep going.. My computer has a tiny ARM microprocessor that's going to run my computer faster and more secure than your old, archaic, piece of security-nightmare junk. My computer doesn't even have cooling vents.

I ain't no rebel, I'm just not stupid. You're the rebel, you whiny, old fart, herbivore. I'll start using carriage returns when you start eating pork chops.

Of course, using the enter key is acceptable between paragraphs.

If I'd switch to your "computer", I'd be unemployed the same day. But
if you're proud of your tiny ARM, then I say 'Bully for you' and
'Enjoy', you Rebel Without a Cause!

I can tell you're really proud of your big computer and big processor. Big deal, I've had big computers with 165W processors that needed really large cooling fans - feel free to live in the past and brag about it. I use a old, anarchic, computer at work but that's something I don't talk about.
