Google groups is trying out a new appearance. He can't figure out how to switch back to the old look. I tried it and didn't like it, so I switched back. I suppose eventually GG will make the new look mandatory so I'll just get used to it. Cindy Hamilton |

Strange. Bryan says John's very intelligent and he knows him better than any of us. Maybe it's the medication. |

Maybe it's the medication. I think he is easily flustered, either because of the medication or because of his bipolar disorder. Once flustered, he can't see his way out of a difficulty. Maybe it's the medication. He's obviously very intelligent - I mean, how many degrees do yoose guys have? OTOH, being perplexed by modern technology seems to be universal in old folks. Being perplexed by humans and relationships seems to be universal in brilliant people. I don't see any mystery at all. My father-in-law was a computer wiz but he never got the hang of Windows OS and high level programming languages. He used to lick his plate of ice cream clean. That gave my wife PTSD. Is there anything more traumatizing to a daughter than daddy licking their plate? I think not. |

Sure, I only have one degree, but I've actually been working in that field for the last 20 years. There's a difference between being intelligent and being smart. Cindy Hamilton |

Some of us are courteous enough to hit Enter every 80 characters or so, since Google Groups doesn't do it for us. OTOH, I'd hit Enter about that often anyway because I'm habituated to it. In the 80's I learned that forcing a carriage return would only cause formatting problems with text. I won't be forcing carriage returns on general principle. It's the year 2020 and nobody should have to do that - at least, not with text. Of course, using the enter key is acceptable between paragraphs. My suggestion is that people get a modern newsreader or use Google Groups. While they're at it, I suggest they dump Windows too. |

Big deal, I've had big computers with 165W processors that needed really large cooling fans - feel free to live in the past and brag about it. I use a old, anarchic, computer at work but that's something I don't talk about. |
