I have no problem with your reply. Thumbs up. One day, fossil fuels will no longer be used, but that day is still far off, unfortunately. Things are both improving AND degrading at this point in time. My understanding is that the use of coal is declining, albeit at a glacial pace. OTOH, some governments, such as in Australia, are doing everything in their power to wind back any progress with renewables. So, as I said before - we are a very long way off having truly clean electricity. |

OTOH, some governments, such as in Australia, are doing > everything in their power to wind back any progress with renewables. > So, as I said before - we are a very long way off having truly clean > electricity. some states and power companies will let you pay a little bit more to encourage them to develop non- fossil fuel alternatives. to me that is putting my money where my mouth is. there was also a referendum on the ballot some years ago to have the state as a whole shift to a higher percentage of required energy coming from renewables. it was defeated by not that much but that did send a signal to the power companies that there was more demand than they perhaps thought so since then there has been a lot more projects offered and coming on-line with renewables. likely also more of a percentage than that referendum... recently they're finding out that solar and wind power even with battery back up of some percentage is less expensive than setting up another fossil fuel burning plant so you will start to see less of those being built as they too become unprofitable. times, they are a changin'... songbird |
