My Chinese Slumlord (local) and his moneyed interest in CHINA (Thanks MalWart!) were never gonna put the kind of money *I* put into fixing up this place. Just like every other NONresident SLUMlord does! *I* care about this place BECAUSE I LIVE HERE TOO!

Yuge Difference! Resident Ownership breeds responsibility. NonResident Ownership of rental property is someone trying to make a PROFIT off it! Like Alex who the IRS busted on going cheap on HIS TAXES! Now he wants everyone else to suffer too, much as a child might!

You've had to drastically reduce the rent to get new tenants. Now you
have dirty unco-operative tenants. What does THAT say about the standard
of accommodation, and you as a housemate?

Financially, you've ignored the very good advice of far more
experienced property-owners on rfc. You're ****ing away your
inheritance,so pretty soon that well will run dry.

When that happens, the forces of economic reality will come home to
roost.
