Dyson.... keeping my fingers crossed.

I got an email this morning saying that they received the unit I sent in
and would send out he new one. This afternoon I got the notice that they
were sending out my order, but they indicate it is the power head, not a
whole new unit. They had originally offered to send the power head,
but they were out of stock, so they would let me know when they came in.
After more than two months I got realized I was going to have to get
back to them. They were out of stock. She asked me about the beat bar
head and I said that was fine, but since they were still out of stock
they would send me a whole new model. The sent me a shipping box to
courier the old one back to them. Now it looks like the are just
sending the power head, so I won't be able to use it until they ship me
the rest of the parts.

I am waiting to hear back from them.

Sounds to me like they didn't document this very well. What good is a
new power head when you returned the entire vacuum cleaner? (rhetorical
question).

That's what I thought Jill. It turned out to be a matter of terminology
and "motorhead" meant the whole machine. It arrived about 15 minutes
ago. I opened it up, plugged in the battery charger and I should be able
to take it for a test drive by the time I get back later this afternoon.

I hope this one is not a lemon, but it will be going back at the first
sign of trouble.

Don't keep us waiting too long, Dave. We want to know how it went! Is
it sucking properly? Does the filter dry fast?

A battery operated stick Dyson is about the babyest of all baby
vacuums, not at all appropriate for large amounts of pet hair.
My Dyson, The Animal, vacuums my entire 2,000 sqft house before its
dirt canister needs emptying... and it's directly plugged into an
outlet, no babyish battery. Rechargeable battery tools are okay for
light use but can't compete with plug-in models, and that's true for
ANY tool... including Kootchies Leaf... a rechargeable battery
operated vehicle is in other words a POS! Compared to a manual an
electric toothbrush is a POS, I rarely use it, I much prefer a manual.

I'm going to disagree with you on this comparison. I simply love my cordless
toothbrush and it takes a full 2 hours for the battery to discharge completely.
I know this as I let it run down once per month to recharge and maintain the
battery life.

That round toothbrush head reaches the back of back teeth that a regular
rectangle, manual toothbrush only dreams about getting to those areas. It
may be my imagination but I think I brush longer with the rechargeable brush
than a manual type as I'm not wearing out my arm and wrist.

My daddy used to sell vacuum cleaners. He sold Filter Queens which sold for a lot of dough. We always had a Filter Queen in our house. I would take off the top cap and attach the hose to the outlet to get a high velocity stream of air. Holy smokes, that's a lot of fun for a kid. I would float balls in the air stream or use it to stoke a charcoal fire. You could have a full fire in a couple of minutes. Amazing!

My son's family is living at his in-law's home and I was surprised that they had a Filter Queen. It's the same design as the one we had in the 60's. When we had one, I thought it was way too expensive for a vacuum. Ha ha, the new ones cost 4 grand!

Wow, I never heard of the brand, only the overpriced Rainboq. Not that
I'm interested in one at $3398. I'm sure it is good, but you can get
clean and HEPA filtered for a lot less.

Filter Queen is a great vacuum. My mother has one that she inherited from her mother who purchased it in the late '70's. It still does a really good job.

Most people are not interested in a vacuum at that price point. These machines are presented to people in a carefully controlled/structured setting. It must be one hell of a presentation!

The Filter Queen has a radical design, featuring a big heavy-duty motor and a large filter surface area which results in being able to move a large amount of air. It's built very well although emptying one of these babies is a nasty, dirty, business. Don't believe the videos!

When much younger my arm and wrist have likely gotten a better work
out than yours ;)
My main complaint is that the bristles on electic tooth brushes are
much too soft.

That machine seems to be the first that used a directional inlet to create a whirlwind effect in a circular chamber. It's a design concept that bagless vacuum cleaners utilize to this day. Emptying the bag was kind of a trip when I was a kid. You never knew what you'd be seeing and there would be dust everywhere. :)

Popeye is grooming his lady from the donkey shows. So, regular stuff
won't work. He needs long handled dental brushes to get all the
horsehair wrapped around her tonsils.

Naturally, he will **** on anything he doesn't use himself.
