I always thought that letting chicken smoke on a very low grill fire for a few days might taste even better, excluding the Jamaican "jerk" chicken style (which to me is just Italian dressing on grilled chicken).

The popular grilled chicken back in the old days was half a chicken grilled over kiawe (mesquite) wood and basted with a secret sauce. My guess is that the secret sauce was simply salt water. Ha ha.

The kiawe grilled "huli-huli" chicken was sold at fund raisers and it was a special treat. These days, with Costco chicken being sold for 5 bucks, selling half a chicken for 8 bucks is no longer economically viable.

They simply started importing cheap stuff from china, and selling
plastic hula hoops. The chubby little asian girls on the rock love them.

It's not jamaican. It's Mayan jerk chicken. And the jerk part is
when Popeye whacks off over the grill and splatters the food.

He invites neighbors for miles around who love his mayan jerk chicken.

It's 100% Mayan.

Indeed! Covers are fine but nothing beats the originals. Most of the
time.

Check out the version below what I posted. The Midnight Special version
w/ Emylou Harris and Bonnie Raitt. Even better!

Covers of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen are almost always better than when
those guys sang them. Check out the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary
tribute (or something like that), or Jennifer Warnes Famous Blue Raincoat.
