You are probably right, but sometimes it can be difficult.

In the mean time I have just baked 72 mince pies for my daughters double
party. My grandson and son-in-law have birthdays only 4 days apart. Joint
party is on Saturday.

I had no idea how long this would take. The pastry rolling and cutting was
the lengthy part. I had only intended to make 60 but had pastry left, so
added another dozen in order not to waste it.

When I close my eyes I see mince pies (which would be rather confusing to
Cockneys).

I use "inflammatory and provocative posts", says the person who is hell bent
on attacking and provoking me without the slightest hint of irony, or proof
of what constitutes an attack.

However, I will leave others to judge whose tactics are plumbing the depths.

And of course, you would never seek to upset me here....

==

Fruity, he is treating me in exactly the same way:) He is saying we are
posting trolling and provocative posts LOL

I see you are being accused of "inflammatory and provocative posts" at
least it hasn't got that far with me yet:)

I have been here for many years, and although there are those who don't like
me they have never accused me of that:)

It is time for you to ignore his crap. I do now. There will be those who
are taking in that stuff, but eventually they will see you are just a
poster who likes to cook.

It is hard to understand, how a new poster who comes in here, making such
accusations can gain traction. <shrug> what can I say.

Fat Tony takes against someone and has all the buzz words to try and put
them down and make them hated.

I know that most of the posters here are too bright to be fooled by that.

BUT. we can only hope. Keep posting about the food you cook. He never does
any of that which speaks volumes:))

I agree, it is rolling and cutting the pastry that makes it time
consuming. However, they do freeze well, unbaked or baked.

I love mincemeat tarts but they are finicky to make. I have to get
psyched up to make them every Christmas. I finally got at them last week
and made 4 dozen tarts. That should get us through the holidays along
with the other seasonal goodies.

Thankyou.

That is comforting.

I cant stop cooking, that is my problem.

I lie awake at 3am thinking of things to make. My grandson likes spicy food
(he is only 2 years old and loves it - not hot, just spicy).

With the thread on Tahini, I wonder if I could make him some curry tahini as
a dip to have with his meals, so that if he refuses to eat potato wedges,
which apparently he is doing at the moment, he can dip them in a little pot
of tahini and enjoy them that way. Im not sure how curry flavour fits with
sesame, and my wife was definitely €śit will not work€ť, but I like
experimenting.

I took grandson my home made crab pate yesterday for lunch, and after an
initial reluctance he was away. Crab is quite strong and I assumed he would
try a little and then give up, but he ate most of what was enough for at
least two people.

which apparently he is doing at the moment, he can dip them in a little pot
of tahini and enjoy them that way.

==

Brilliant:))) Lucky family:) I love to cook too and I experiment all the
time:) In fact just about all my cooking is for my husband ..and the
family when they come, but day to day, it is all for him:))))

I can't help you with curry stuff or tahini, but I am very sure someone here
can:))

Keep enjoying, there are far worse things we could be doing:))

The last time I made them was when my sons were 10-12 yrs old. I made ~6
dozen one Sunday and they were gone by Wednesday. I did the same the
next year and by the Wednesday I still had 6 dozen.
I have made almond tarts for may years and friends look forward to them.

I can't remember when I last ate a mince pie. I think most force one
down to "celebrate" the season, and that's it. I think most wouldn't
miss them if they were absent on xmas tables.

Im sure there are lots of folk who dislike them.

No one will be forcing anyone to eat them. My daughter will freeze any that
are left over.

It is a tea party, and as she was thinking about what she might need to feed
those who have been invited and because it is the season for them, I
volunteered to make a batch. With around 30 people likely to turn up, I
decided two each ought to be enough, but made more (see above).

I love mince pies, and so do a lot of people I know, and not only do they
"force one down but they occasionally have three or four; so I doubt
there will be too many left over.I made the pastry with butter so that they
are ok for vegetarians, and no vegans are expected, so that will not be a
problem.

However, I dont buy or eat the sugar filled shop bought offerings; with
pastry that is so strange it clings to the roof of my mouth.

I love mincemeat tarts and pies and I think that just about everyone in
my family does too. It is a seasonal treat. My mother always made lots
and lots of mincemeat tarts, and the standard dessert on New Years Day
was mincemeat pie. Last week I made 4 dozen mincemeat tarts.

It's really the last thing Xmassy I make that the kids would kill me
if they didn't have them :) I always loved Xmas pudding and so I
thought did my eldest grandson, but it turns out (he now tells me when
he turned 40) he really liked the fact it came to the table in flames
:)

I remember my German grandmother making "real" mincemeat pies...using finely shredded beef (but
still identifiable as beef, so not pasty) and liking them o.k. when I was young, but now, after getting
used to...and loving...commercial mincemeat like that made by Crosse and Blackwell, which is mostly
apples and raisins, with a little liquor added for flavor, I can't imagine eating my grandmother's mincemeat.

I have made cookies which are made with cream cheese pastry cut into squares and then folded
once, corner to corner, with mincemeat filling...very tasty. I am planning to make small tarts this year
because I have a jar of mincemeat left from an order last year.

I have Bruce in killfile but not the new fellow. Note that Bruce

He has since claimed I started it but I did not. Bruce is a waste of

Whining about people deleting your posts because they don't like
them isn't the best of way to make friends or convince people you're

That's nothing...some years ago Steve aka "sqwertz" drove a poster ("Omelet") here to near - suicide! He engaged in a sleazy affair with her, then when she spurned his further "intentions", he "went public" here with all the sordid details, causing her great pain and public embarrassment...

Such squalid doings I'd never observed in *real* life, let alone the public forum of Usenet...a most unfortunate state of affairs...Steve is truly one sad bugger...

Now, now. It is *Popeye* netiquette, Therefore it is perfect,
infallible, and should be revered. Exceptions are OK, but only after the
first quart of Crystal Palace.

Om was a valuable poster here, I didn't know that the dwarf drove her
away. I wish she'd return. The dwarf has never been a valued RFC
poster, all he does is post nasty comments and pictures of awful
texmex shit.
