I automatically dislike a company (VIA or investment companies) that
promotes famous people as being their investors to give itself
credence.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (NOT Bill Gates himself)
provided a $100K charitable GRANT to the eventual founders to study
the idea 6 years ago. They are not investors. The Initial $100K
was just a drop in the bucket compared to the $110M they have raised
through actual investors VIA their seed and funding rounds.
