My toaster caught on fire! Sorry, no news at 11:00 or link to a news story.
I was toasting a slice of sourdough bread and the toast was done. I had just taken it out of the slot with when flames burst up! I quickly unplugged the toaster and grabbed a box of baking soda from the cupboard. I doused the flames. I have NO idea why the toaster suddenly caught on fire. I keep the crumb-tray clean and empty. It was a 10 year old toaster but that's no excuse. Good thing I never toast bread without standing there waiting for it. Jill |

Perhaps get a electrician to check your wall socket. Google the brand to see if others have had the same experience. Hmm. I just googled "toaster fire". You're not alone. leo |

I got a large one free from credit card rewards which I use for many things when I don't want to turn on the regular oven. I cook things like chicken , fish, and anything I want crispy that I don't use a microwave for. I make lots of smaller portion things for dh that I don't actually eat, cupcakes and things like that. It doesn't heat up my kitchen and heats quickly to temp. Cheri |

The ones I've had (granted, decades ago; I don't think they'd invented Hot Pockets yet!) were more like a small oven than a toaster. I didn't get much use out of the ones I had (both of which were gifts). Jill |

Didn't use it much. I don't make nachos nor do I ever buy pastry, so... Toasted cheese sandwiches I do on the stovetop, in a small non-stick skillet. Different strokes. ![]() Jill |

Toaster ovens don't excel at making toast, but they are good for many other heating and cooking tasks where you don't need the big oven. Heat up a muffin or a roll that would not fit in a toaster slot, broil a hot dog,. |

I have posted before about my brother's friends who eat in restaurants all the time. They have a dream kitchen with all the best appliances, and she never kicks. A couple years ago our twenty year old Kitchen Aid toaster died and no longer made so I bought a four slice wide slot Oster for $22... has all the features and toasts perfectly... exterior is brushed stainless steel. A couple years ago this toaster was $22 at Walmart: https://www.amazon.com/Oster-4-Slice...70_&dpSrc=srch |

I rarely use it for actual baking but it's a great thing for putting out fires. Note to self: buy more baking soda ![]() Jill |

I didn't really have time to analyze it. All I know is I saw flames and said to myself, "Well this isn't good." I grabbed the baking soda and doused the fire.
