My Daughter the 'TV Tech' got mad at me recently. She didn't appreciate 35+ years of troubleshooting teling her what to try for something. Pre-Hurricane Florence, she took the WII-U and unplugged it to put it away safe 'just in case'. Immediately we lost basic TV off that TV. Ok, no biggie, we use the other for a bit. I recalle she had some issue with a password and getting the WII-U to work in the early days. So come safe time, she wants me to call Verizon (80$ to have them come out). I said no, first we plug it all back in and try it and if that doesn't work, we turn it ALL off for a bit over a minute then back on and see what happens. Poor thing is frustrated as she'd turned pieces off one at a time and didn't know the difference. The turn it all off then back on worked like a charm. It needed to be off long enough for a full cycle (1+ minute). |

Anyone can 'read email' while offline if they have a proper PST on the local machine. On a ship, that can also be on the ship's email server. You can also 'respond' to those emails and they will sit in outbound (local machine or ship server). It only actually transits (in or out) when 'connected'. Similar to that I picked up a packet of newsgroup posts a bit ago. I connected and downloaded them to my local system. At the same time, any outbound was sent from my local system to the Giganews server. I'm clicking along and doing both read inbound and reply outbound but it's all here on my local machine for now. I set it up to do it that way. |

New power cord for the W-10 laptop is arriving today. I can't say what's happening with your system. I can edit and add to my contact list on anything that I'm using and it gets synchronized across all the platforms that I use. It's pretty much how computing is supposed to be. All that shit that happened since the late 80's was just a waste of time. |

Anyways, I have a Mini-DIN to USB connector in my hand. Popular gear when folks still had mini-din mismatched gear. It has a regular USB post on one end, and a small round plug on the other with what looks like 7 pins and a sort of flat bit that fits a slot that makes you fit it in right. If you have those, you can spare up a USB port later and plug in direct off your matching mouse and keyboard fit to the round pins. The bigger DIN slots are long gone now but the small ones with an adapter, work well. |
