I had a big bowl of old fashioned oats after french press coffee.

That is closer to my regular breakfast than the bacon and eggs we usually cook when he comes. However, we also had a sticky bun with our healthy breakfast. I had a pretty good brunch yesterday. My wife and I went to a town about 30 miles away so she could deliver some flowers to a 101 year old women. I killed some time waiting for her and then we went to a funky old dinner in the main street. I was just going to have a coffee and one of their huge and delicious looking date squares, but I changed my mind and had bacon and eggs. I have a mixed review of the meal. The bacon was over cooked and the home fries were under cooked. They were mostly just warmed up leftover potatoes that had not been on the grill long enough and there had not been enough oil to get a nice brown crust. The beans were a little under done and needed salt. However, the eggs were poached to perfection. The highlight of the meal was the toast. They bake their bread in house. It was thick sliced, thick enough to make Texas toast look like Rhode Island, and it was incredible. That delicious toast made up for the shortcomings of the other items. |

Bacon tends to be finicky. I have only recently been converted to baked beans because I found out how good they can be, so if the beans are not spectacular they are only what I am used to and don't expect to be impressed. But.... holy cow that toast was good. |

Many medicinal varieties have up to 20%/80% CBD/THC ratios ... so while they do reduce pain for instance , if you still hurt you don't care . BTW , most CBD oil comes from plants grown for the hemp fibers . So little THC in those that you couldn't get high on it if you smoked a boxcar full . If not for the other legal ramifications (sched 1 drug , 2nd amendment issues - that law needs to be changed) I'd probably apply for a card to help with my chronic back pain . As it is I rely on ibuprofen , alcohol , and an occasional prescription opioidÂ* for really bad days . -- Snag Yes , I'm old and crochety . Get off my lawn ! |

I do have an elderly aunt with all her faculties. She's related by marriage; she married mom's older brother. She loves to cook! Unfortunately at 96 she's slowing down. My aunt down in Florida is 94 and seems to be doing well. I try to call about once a month to see how she is doing. I think it was a year ago January that I was going to call my uncle, but it was 9 am and I thought it was too early to phone. About 10 minutes later she called here to tell me that my uncle had died the night before. He would have turned 100 that August. >> I have a mixed review of the meal. It was thicker than any Texas toast I have seen, but also longer and wider. I don't usually go for Texas toast because it is usually just thick cut commercial blah bread and only toasted part way through, but this stuff was amazing. As for the beans...... I guess it is part of the full English breakfast. If my son comes by for breakfast he likes to have beans with it. I took a friend to a breakfast grill around the corner from my son's place one day last week. He declined the beans at first but tried some of mine and ended up getting an order for himself. He had said that beans with breakfast didn't really appeal, but he was quickly converted. Of course, they have to be good house cooked beans, not the canned version. |

Not enough to feel the miniscule alcohol in it. The mix really works well, and I think I may have a fourth Cuppa Plus before dinner! The Second Amendment in its entirety: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." What the hell does the above have to do with pot? Oh, Wait! The BATF, which may or may not be Constitutional, enforces that law. The Constitution and Bill of Rights allow that which is not expressly forbidden, but the Second Amendment has absolutely nothing to do with the current thread. Laws, not forbidden by the Constitution or Bill of Rights, do. [ObFood] Shelled and boiled large shrimp with no island dressing (everything but the pickles) as one part. A fancier than ordinary iceberg salad with another dressing to complement the shrimp. The whole mess was easier than I just tried to explain. I hope that all who celebrate Labor Day had a good one. leo |
