Default Making a Meat Grocery List

Jill, I never check a website for specials, although I do order my groceries online.

I get a weekly sales flyer in the regular mail, and I really prefer having that as opposed
to spending more time on the computer. I just like the printed "word," which also
includes books (instead of electronic readers).

Nancy2, I prefer to hold and read books in my hands, sure. I don't get
sales flyers in the mailbox anymore. So I look at the web site to help
me make my shopping list and also see what else they might have I might
want. To stock the freezer.

For ads I much prefer online. Any paper ads I get are tossed out
immediately. I wish they'd do away with mailing them.

The paper ads and coupons I do still get via snail mail are useless.

As for paper (other than books and shopping lists!) I pay most of my
bills online. For things like the electric and water bill, I've been
signed up for "paperless billing" at this address for a decade yet I
still occasionally get paper bills in the mail. Then I have to check
and make sure it's the same bill, yeah, thought so. I just paid this.
A duplication of effort and a waste of paper. It's irritating.

I live in a weird area, Cheri. The paper ads I get via snail mail are
not for nearby stores. Unless you count 50-75 miles as nearby. And
they're never for anything I want or need. I'm not in the market for
furniture from an outlet in Bluffton. The paper coupons are often for
restaurants, e.g. $10 off at some teppankaki grill in Rincon. I've
heard of Rincon. Never actually been there. I certainly won't be
dining there. LOL Useless waste of paper.

Yes, I can see that, here the stores are all within a couple of miles from
me, Safeway, Smart and Final, S-Mart, Food 4 Less, Raley's, and so on. I
don't care to shop so much at Walmart, Costco, and the like because the
stores are just too big for me to get around easily in. I do get the
specials online, rewards etc., but I enjoy them like a newspaper I guess.
Sort of like how you like to handle a book instead of a Kindle or something,
and I like to clip coupons that I use. I have them in my purse and don't
have to add them and print out a list.

Yep. I can't remember the last time I got a useful paper coupon except for a
few specific to stores/

If they come on garbage I walk back across the street from the mail box
and drop them into the recycling bin. They don't even make it to the
house. I try to de-clutter by not even taking it into the house.

I don't get the sales ads or coupons in the mail any longer. But mail
and junk mail gets eyeballed immediately with name and addresses removed
from garbage mail. That goes to the shredder and the other stuff goes
to the recycling bin.

Anything that comes with a postage paid return envelope I will cross
out my name and address with a yellow highlighter and ask them to
remove my name AND address from their junk mail list. That goes in
that postage paid envelope with the pleasure of knowing they had to
pay for postage twice without making a sale. Once to deliver their
garbage and then to return their garbage to them.

Well they're useful for you to get more excercise in that case. I put mine
through a shredder for the worms when done.

Most of the apartments here have a recycle bin right under the mailboxes.

Agree. I prefer paperless with everything. The less to recycle, the better.

He's from one of my favorite movies that my wife still doesn't get.
"Being There". Chauncey was the elegant yet clueless gardener who was
considered wise by powerful folks who read into his silence that he
knew more than they did. Bravo, Peter Sellers.
I still watch it when I can find it on the "old time" TV channels. It
isn't played often. It's been at least five years since I last saw it.

[ObFood] I bought a pork shoulder roast with no particular idea in
mind. So I thought, I'll make pulled pork and simmered it for four
hours. I pulled out the meat from the broth and decided to Mexicanize
the broth. I added two jalapeños, a couple of tomatoes and four
tomatillos diced. That ruined the broth. Wow! It was sour.
So I added plenty of salt, some sugar and a small can of enchilada
sauce. Better but still no bueno.
I added a small can of tomato sauce and more sugar and salt, ripped the
pork into bite sized chunks and added hominy. Now I have a half-assed
posole that doesn't taste too bad. It's actually decent. Enough said.
I'll spread barbecue sauce on the rest of the pork and heat the mess
for sandwiches. I'm usually better than this.

New rules. We are prohibited from putting plastic water bottles in
with the recycling. We are told to put them in the trash.

They are very easy to recycle, but there are too many of them to have
any value. Jere in CT we pay a deposit on them so we do get our nickle
back anyway.

Here we call them weekly circulars. I get them at the post office
when get my POB mail, but the post office doesn't put them in the
boxes, they are out on a counter so people can take or not. I go
through the circular for the Tops Market in town becaue it contains
coupons... I get the circular on line but why should I use my printer
ink to print an entire page al in color for a tiny coupon.. and the
circulars are in the store by the entrance. I rarely use my printer,
ink is too pricey.

Add me. I keep a grocery list all week. Many times I'll notice
something that needs to be replaced while cooking. I add that to
my list. Wednesday sale ads I'll look at too. I do always take a
list with me though.

I normally go grocery shopping twice a week. Mon or Tue to pick
up a few more sale things, then Thur, Fri to get the new weeks
sale items. Or just basics that I want here anyway.

Add me to that list. I just picked up a bunch of books. They don't
require a cord or recharging.

But OTOH if I'm out somewhere and have to wait, I have about 40 books
in my purse. I tried to read a paper book recently and gave up and
found the ebook editiion, much better. I can adjust the print size,
add backlighting if the light is poor.

Precisely, I don't spend time in waiting rooms either even if she
would like to imply I do. I still wait odd times, for a friend to
arrive for lunch or whatever and it's convenient to have a book to
hand. I also read one cover to cover, then move on to the next
despite what madam again tries to imply.

Unless you are renting paper books from the library you are dumping
more paper. I hated to get rid of my paperbacks but they consume so
much room. I like to go back to books I have read from time to time.
With my Kindle there are no more paperbacks and once I finish a book
it goes to the Cloud where I can retrieve any time I want. My Kindle
allows me to create files for certain type of books - author, subject,
whatever so I can retrieve easily whatever I want. And, of course,
with BookBub I get thousands of books free or for $.99 or greatly
discounted delivered direct to my Kindle within a minute of ordering.
I see no way to lose. But, electronics isn't for everyone.

When I go to the doctor, I take a paperback book. Could be halfway
through it, doesn't matter. I have never had to wait so long as to need
another book.

I don't care how anyone reads their books. I think reading is
important. I also have always found it very enjoyable.

It's a rare time I go to the doctor however, like this a.m. after
getting my groceries I noticed the nail place was just opening up and
I figured go get a pedicure. Went in and was attended to immediately.
So while the man does my toe nails, I read my book rather than
watching the rubbish television.

The other thing I particularly like about an ereader is I can keep
poetry on it for those times I would like to read that. Yes, I do
read a book at a time, from cover to cover, then move on to the next,
having so many available does not mean I skip around between them. I
don't know why you assumed I 'bounced' around between books. Maybe
you need to try an ereader and find out the benefits. Plus, think of
all the trees it saves.

The Kindle or e-reader is so much handier for me due to arthritis makes it
hard to hold books turn pages etc., and as you say I can change the print to
larger print at the push of a button or two which makes it easier to see.
Seems like we have this conversation about every 3 or 4 months, same with
dishwasher versus dishwashing, how far behind can the cell phone debate be?

Actually, I'm pretty sure the debate over credit cards versus checks or cash
at the checkout is pretty close, or at least the *they bag or you bag* the
groceries discussions are coming soon. ;-)

LOL I was at the grocery store yesterday with my neighbor. Between the
two of us we had a rather loaded cart. At Publix, they always have
someone to bag your groceries. They also take your cart out to your
car. I don't usually need that but yesterday it was appreciated.

Shopping with someone else means twice or thrice the food to load into
the trunk. (You should have seen the size of the cantaloupe she
bought!) Some of the bags had to go in the back seat.

The "bag boy" saw some DVD's she was planning to return to the library
sitting on her back seat. One of them was 'The Witches of Eastwick'.
This guy young guy, maybe 19 years old, laughed and said, "Oh, I know
that movie. Cher ! It's a 1980's movie. I wasn't even born yet."
(laughing) Gee, thanks for pointing that out.

Yes, I believe it was Cindy who first told me, but I've seen others mention
it since. A great place that I use often. I like the fact that you can set
up what kind of books you want to read and it comes in the email every day.
