I did direct a an orphan hosting program for over 12 years that brought nearly 3000 orphans to visit with host families who had extensive background checks, training and more in the USA. New Horizons for Children contracted with licensed Social Workers to do home safety and family pre visits before being approved to host a child. Russia closed their doors to American adoptions and in turn, all hosting programs after an unrelated to NHFC adoption event.
In turn it canceled many children from participating in a Christmas 2010 hosting program where all Airlines finally refunded money paid for flights that were non refundable.
As a non profit 501c3, no refunds can be given to donors in cash because they gave it as a legal donation hat would be used to cover expenses of the program. However, options were given to each family to apply their donations towards another program from another country or we could transfer funds to another legal 501c3 non profit of their choice. In many cases the funds were transferred to agencies or churches of the donors choice or they simply chose a child and hosted from Ukraine or Latvia the following summer. There is no warrant for my arrest in any country in the world for any reason! What kind of person has the time or energy to create such nonsense and take situations out of context to gain attention to a non-issue??
