Default Now she tells me !

Â* I met my wife 45 years ago last Wednesday , the 11th . She told me
last week that she doesn't particularly like cooked carrots ... but she
really likes my glazed carrots <drained canned carrots , butter and
brown sugar heated to caramelization and seasoned with allspice and
cloves> . Guess what we're having as a side tonight ? <main dish is
hamburger steaks in mushroom gravy and mashed taters>

It's unusual to recall the date one first met their wife. Heck, it's hard to remember the date we was married.*

Happy (belated) anniversary! You and your wife may have my share of the
glazed carrots.

Â* The date sticks in my mind because it was the day after I got out of
the US Navy ... The bus ride to northern Utah from Long beach is a haze
of alcohol and pot ... my brothers picked me up , stopped at the local
farmer/truck stop restaurant to sober me up enough to walk . She waited
on us , and I gave her a hard time . I knew the moment I laid eyes on
her that we would grow old together . So did she , we got married that
August and ain't looked back .

I think it's very sweet!

I have a similar story, but it's not mine. It involves my father, who
was a Marine, and another Marine who served with him in Korea. My dad
was in the hospital (not war related) and his buddy was visiting him. A
nurse came in and told them visiting hours were over. This buddy took
one look at her and (to hear him tell it) knew he was going to marry
her. So he sort of pushed for a few more minutes with my dad and asked
him to "get the scoop" on her. He kept coming back to visit when she
was scheduled to work. They got married a few months later. I know he
could pinpoint the day they met.

He called me on the phone after my father died and told me this story.
He said if your dad and I weren't such good friends I'd never have met
my wife. (This is not something my dad ever told me about. I think
he'd be pleased to know this man took the time to call me and tell me
about it.)

He wrote it all out for me and mailed it to me. (Wasn't that nice?) By
the time he got in touch with me he was a retired Brigadier General.
But he never forgot my father or the day he met his bride.

I love carrots most ways but not glazed.

I'm doing some kind of pasta with red sauce and ground beef. Only because
the rest of the red sauce and ground beef need to be used up.

I met my ex on Black Friday. Can't remember the date but do remember that.
Married April 15. Tax day and opening day of fishing season in PA.

If you have any raw carrots you can always grate some into the red sauce
to add a bit of sweetness. Sometimes sauce made from fresh tomatoes can
taste a tad acidic. This is an old cooking trick.

I don't remember the date I met my ex but it was around my second week
of college, outside of a classroom. We were married on May 15th and
officially divorced on Halloween, two years later. THAT date I'll
always remember.

Nice story. I don't remember the dte. I was supposed to go on double
dte with a buddy and the girl was his date's cousin from out of town.
She could not go so my wife took her place. Semi-blind date? I had
briefly met her a week earlier.

We went out and that was it, the start of 51 years and 49 weeks married.

I make my wife carrots similar to yours, but I add Chambourd, a
blackberry liquor to it.

Bruce doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm familiar with where you
live. It's not time to plant zucchini in the Ozarks. Heck, it's not
even zucchini season way down here in the deep south.

Oh, of course. I once had 13 zucchini plants and we already couldn't
keep up.

It's not compulsory to add a Youtube link to everything you say.

Â* It's a scene I think from The Godfather . Young man and young woman
are walking outdoors , their eyes meet and the rest of the world ceases
to exist for them for a moment .

Who doesn't like carrot cake?
I like pickled carrots, grated carrot and raisin slaw.
I like raw carrots but I despise those pre peeled "baby" carrots. I
very often buy 5 pound bags of gigantic carrots grown in Canada
($3.99), very sweet and tender, I buy them to feed deer but I eat them
too.

I like raw carrots and carrot salad but cooked carrots are blah. In
soups or stews they're ok as they're not a predominate flavor.
