A man at a nearby picnic table wound up and threw a small hard object at a nearby dog that was tied up next to the bathrooms. As a dog lover this person stood up and said, "hey man, why did you do that." He claimed he wasn't aiming for the dog. At that point a man at another table comes over and begins threatening them. Prior to his wife's recording, when she stood up to explain what they were upset about, the dog being mistreated, this man threatened to hit her and that he didn't care that she was a woman. That he would also rape her. Around this point is when the video starts. This was a horrible introduction to Maui for their friends to say the least. MPD arrived very quickly and has the video. "**** white people! **** white people! Respect the locals!" |

In the context of a marital relationship a lot of things can be said between husband and wife that are gentle and loving but might make others uncomfortable. Love excises negative connotations from a great many words. It's when they leave the bedroom and become slang in the wild that feelings can be hurt, either intentionally or unintentionally. This goes back to the N-word demystification that black Americans practice in sports. If a white player says to a black player, "C'mon n***a - step it up" the reaction would not be friendly. Whereas 2 black players can toss N-bombs back and forth at each other in a very teasing and collegial way. The best policy is simply not to make up race labels of any kind. |
