I tried a whole chicken like that but it was just too big. I ended up
having to take off the legs and wings but the rest came out fine.

I really enjoy Cornish game hens and those should be perfect!

Whole chickens these days are sized like young turkeys...

Â* I don't know about ducks , but we're about to try fresh-cut french
fries in ours . The plan is to toss them in a ziplock bag with a couple
of tablespoons of oil then throw 'em in . I figure about 15 minutes ,
then check for brown/doneness . They should go well with the hamburgers
on the buns I just took out of the oven . We were totally out of bread
products , all that's left now to bake is the batch of hot dog buns .
The new mixer makes it a lot faster ...

I didn't use a large one and it did fit in ... but only just. It was a bit
too high in the basket.

I've just been reading about making fresh french fries in the AF)

The recipes I found gave 200c for 30 minutes ... I thought that might be a
bit too long!

Please report back when you have made yours?

Which prolly led to some over-crispy skin on the top side.

But...you saved your oven a splatter-mess cleanup, and that's bonus!

It is only natural that duck should live and fry by the air. And yes, it do look tasty. Just let me have a piece of skin in a bun with plum sauce.

A "steam bun"?

Indeed yes, and some thinly sliced scallions too?

This air fryer thing is getting me all "new toy/kitchen gadget" fidgety!

Hurry up UPS!

Yes, steam bun indeed. They're great! I've never had a pancake like the ones they serve on the mainland. Beats me why they don't serve it here.

I don't have the counter space for one of those do-hickys and for some reason, I don't care for the sound of blow dryers. If need be, I can alway use an industrial heat gun in the oven.

Really, there is no splatter mess in the AF! When I have finished cooking,
I take out the 2 basket thingies, set them in the sink and run hot water and
some soap liquid. After a few minutes I take the inner basket and wash it
in the water and then wash the other one. Takes a couple of minutes.

The outer I just wipe down.

That's what I'm looking for, over 10 years of use we got real sick and
tired of taking apart and cleaning this:

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61dOgnvG3bL.jpg

A wonderful rotisserie cooker, but a flat out PITA to cleanup after.

You have a glass door to remove and clean, the rotisserie parts, drip
pan, inside walls, heat deflector shield - it all adds up.

Â* I have very fond memories of Sunday Dinner at the grandparents house
, Grandma had Grandad fire up the charcoal rotisserie and she'd kill a
chicken and put it on the spit . I can still taste it after over 50
years . I want a spit added to my charcoal grill , even have the 4 RPM
gear motor to drive the spit . I'm afraid her baste recipe is lost
though ... and I still need to weld a new piece in my smoker/grill ,
it's rusted out nearly a third of the bottom .

Even Weber has finally added a rotisserie for their kettles - the best
way to do a bird or roast for sure.

I have very fond memories of Sunday Dinner at the grandparents house
, Grandma had Grandad fire up the charcoal rotisserie and she'd kill a
chicken and put it on the spit .

Ahhh memories ... )

I am very sure you will get your grill set up just fine. I have a counter
top oven with a rotisserie which we use a lot. It isn't as enclosed as the
one casa used so I guess it is much easier to clean.

How did your chips (fries) turn out in the end? Will you change the
temps/time for the next lot?

Â* I'll do it again , but cut the fries more evenly in size . Time is
going to be around 30 minutes as you suggested . They turned out pretty
good for a first try .

Well done you) How thick did you cut them? I usually do mine not skinny
but not over big either. How does that compare?

I can see evenly cut stuff is better. I need to be more careful when I cut
up my veg too.

Good to know, a fry cutter would be a wise investment:

Those pricey one-act rube goldbergs are pure BS... a pain to clean,
dry, and store.
This simple thingie is time tested, mine is older than anyone here, my
grandmother used it, my mother used it, and I've been using it for
decades, uses are infinite... even a great aid for getting getting
kids to eat their veggies:
