Default greatest TV theme song ever?

Yo, Casa - 82 posts in this thread - 33 from you. Nothing wrong with that, I too tend to hog threads I start. But it is a bit hypocritical for a guy to cry "Off topic, This is a food group", all the time, yet thinks it's ok as long as he prefaces his thread with "OT". I think that is funny. I notice this thread died out. I came in yesterday and it was booming. I had nothing to add although I know tons of old TV theme songs. So I came in today expecting to see it still blasting away, but I see it has died. Well, it's not dead yet. My post keeps it alive, even though I myself might be dead. Think about it, even after you are dead your posts will live on forever in newsgroups, same as your words remain alive on your outgoing answering service message long after your dead, or until the service is cut off for not being paid. Anyway Casa, this is directed at you, to remind you that your complaints about people going off topic are kind of bogus if you think all you have to do to make them legit is preface them with "OT". That is truly funny, like when a mother yells at her kid for saying "God damn", and the kid says, "But Momma, I said "Gol Dang." Class room type stuff. Funny stuff.

Back when the west was very young
There lived a man named Masterson
He wore a cane and derby hat
They called him "Bat" - Bat Masterson

That one always made me laugh.

Do you?

Is that when you're not plotting to kill a Marine?

This thread was created as an unambiguously //apolitical example// of
how folks can actually share diverse likes and dislikes without invoking
partisan alliances.

Guess what...it WORKED

;-)

No, you're not dead.

Stow that sophist game-playing, it's idiotic.

I endorse that post-grave notariety, albeit short-lived...

Nope - that is NOT a problem, it's in fact an *alert* to read elsewhere
if the subject matter does not interest or feels contentious.

You lose.

Not even close to an equivalency, try again.

I liked that show, not a lot, but some.

Gene Barry's better work came elsewhere.

Now then...having decried my alleged NG hypocrisy just why are you
participating in the odious thread which I started?

Uh huh.

Pot/kettle.

I won't argue, only explain. First, I am not opposed to threads such as the one you started. I just think that putting an "OT" in front of it is meaningless. Well, maybe not entirely meaningless, it may even serve to draw more people in, furthering my belief that most people like spreading out beyond the main purpose of their group into other topics. But there should be no need for putting "OT" in front of the opening post. It's like saying, "Uh, I know I shouldn't say this, but....................", or, "Please don't take offense, but.............", or, "I have lots of black friends, but...................", and so forth. I only posted my thoughts on this matter because of your earlier accusations of anyone posting off topic being a troll. I know that is not the case, and so do you. I don't mind that you preface your post with "OT", I get it. But it really serves no purpose. I doubt that anyone is going to be deterred from opening your thread because it has an "OT" in front of it. I think, as mentioned already, that if anything it might cause more people to open it. Everyone wants to spread out now and then, nothing wrong with that. For example, imagine a gathering of folks around a large dinner table, a grand spread before them - are they allowed to talk about anything other than food? Of course they are. In the beginning of course most comments will likely regard the food - "Man, this is really tender turkey", or, "I normally hate lima beans, but, man, these are great!" - but after a while that is going to get tiresome, isn't it. I would hate to be part of a family where the first person to mention something beyond the meal being eaten is accused of going off topic. "Hey, we're eating here - this is food time - you wanna talk, you got sumptin' to say, keep it to food or get the hell out of my dining room!" So my point is I am not against your "OT" post, not in the least, only pointing out how foolish it is to think it's ok for you to do it because you preface it with OT, while at the same time attacking others for drifting off topic in threads that are already headed in that direction. That is hypocritical. And in case you think that too is an attack, please remember, we are all subject to being hypocritical at times in some way, even if we try our hardest not to let it happen.

Also, your posting response style, point by point, sickens me. It is your style, no one is asking you to change it. But I don't like it because it makes you sound like some kind of judge. Now, once again, must because I don't like it doesn't mean we need an argument or debate on the issue, I am simply stating how I feel about your response method. I have seen others use the same method. If I used the same method to respond to you, oh what a mess the thread would turn out to be.

Keeping it tidy,
