How often do you see those?

I always watch in the winter Olympics, then they're gone.

And yeah, it IS relaxing, and quirky and fun.

Like Bocce Ball except icy.

Both were very great actors - not that it bothers me much. Famous actors
these days are accorded an obscene level of reverence when it was not
that long ago when they were so low on the social ladder that only the
public executioner was lower.

Very true and very much where they should return.

Its a profession based upon innate deceit after all.

When they naturally transitioned over to politics from booze I lost much
interest in the lot of them.

Many commercials are quite entertaining, especially those with lots of
female pulchritude.

The Beautiful History of pulchritude
If English poet John Keats was right when he wrote that "a thing of
beauty is a joy forever," then pulchritude should bring bliss for many
years to come. That word has already served English handsomely for
centuries; it has been used since the 1400s. It's a descendant of the
Latin adjective pulcher, which means "beautiful." Pulcher hasn't
exactly been a wellspring of English terms, but it did give us both
pulchritude and pulchritudinous, an adjective meaning "attractive" or
"beautiful." The verb pulchrify (a synonym of beautify), the noun
pulchritudeness (same meaning as pulchritude), and the adjective
pulchrous (meaning "fair or beautiful") are other pulcher offspring,
but those terms have proved that, in at least some linguistic cases,
beauty is fleeting.

Mel Gibson did such a wonderful job of acting in that movie that even the
bloody scenes etc. were helped with the expressions of sorrow and resolve on
his face in so many of them.

Easily his best performance ever, and he had some fine ones.

One of the best, most cynically creative shows ever produced!

And I was a huge "Danger Man" fan as well.

True. That's my only problem with PBS or movie channels. Ones
that have no commercials. You have to miss something if you want
to make a snack or go to the bathroom.

You could prepare the snack ahead of time and be quick in the bathroom!
What's the Boyscout motto? Be Prepared. LOL

If I'm watching a channel with commercials, when they come on I just
pick up my book and read. (I *always* have a book on the table.) I can
completely tune out what is on television when I'm reading. Yet I can
tell by the sound when the show has resumed. I put down the book, watch
the program. For some reason my SO finds it fascinating that I can do
that. :)

I DVR everything except live newscasts, sports, etc. so I actually see very
few commericals, but if I'm listening to something and in another room
cooking or cleaning, then I hear them, always loud and usually silly.

yesterday and they had the stupidest program imaginable. There were
three women, one black, one latina and the other asian, and they were
pretty much yelling and interrupting each other, giving skanky clothing
suggestions to show off your booty. Luckily, I had my laptop and was
using their wifi. I guess I have to believe they air crap like that
because it was on TV, but I can't imagine anyone watching it. Frankly,
the commercials were a welcome relief from the idiocy of the show.

Sometimes that's true with the commercials a relief from the program, that's
why I can't do talk shows at all, everyone talking and shouting at once just
drives me crazy.

Channel switching the other night, I happened upon some
"Victoria's Secret Fashion Show." I watched for about 4 minutes
and was less than impressed.

- way too much makeup
- way too young - they looked like teenage girls (children)
- way too skinny - they looked malnourished big time

- I quickly switched the channel back to Gunsmoke! :-D

When I first retired my mother used to call me and ask if I had thought
of Oprah or Dr. Phil or some of the other shows she liked. I would tell
her I had not seen them, that I don't watch those shows. Then she would
ask what I did watch, and I would tell her I did not watch day time TV.
Even if I wasn't busy doing other things I still would not watch daytime
TV. It is a wasteland. The odd time that I have it on to watch the news
and then channel surf a little while I end up turning it off. The
programming is horrible.

It's a good thing it turned me off daytime TV so I never got into
daytime Netflix. I confess that a few years ago, we had a bitterly cold
winter and we binge watched TV series on DVD that we borrowed at the
library. We watched entire seasons of 24 at the rate of a season ever
two days...... 12 hours a day on one show... and then turned around and
started a new one.

Hey! Speaking of talk shows... Has anyone noticed (never been
mentioned here that I know of) how, the Food Channel chef, Robert
Irvine has quit cooking and now hosts his own talk show weekday
afternoons. It's just like a copy of the Jerry Springer show.

Anyway, I used to watch his old cooking show, "Dinner
Impossible," I think it was - where he always cooked for a large
crowd with limited cooking conditions. Seems he completely
ditched the cooking for a talk show. Guess a steadier paycheck?
:-O

Now that Mario has been fired, will he also host a talk show next
year? ;-D

Hah!

Ran into some daytime TeeVee in the Doc's office and was appalled to see
him counseling marriages, which is what his "Restaurant Impossible" show
on FoodTV degenerated into.

Gordon Ramsey next?!?!?!??

More k00ks in daytime TV than a kitchen I suppose...

How is "Hell on Wheels"?

It's kinda hard to imagine Potsie (Anson Mount) as a lead character in
the West.
