You should google him - I'll do it for you -
http://www.macleans.ca/culture/arts/...anders-fields/

That is a particularly poignant rendition for today, Remembrance Day.
It's his poet side, he was also a singer, sort of singing one hated or
liked, not much in between, I liked him.

He played a big part in an epiphany moment for me. AAMOF it was 6 years
ago today. I was lying in bed in the ICU after heart surgery and I was
feeling really low. I was worried that I was not going to make it. I had
my MP3 player but the battery was running low. I looked through the menu
and opted for a song from Jennifer Warnes' album Famous Blue Raincoat
(Leonard Cohen songs), First We Take Manhatten. All of a sudden I felt
better and confident that everything was going to be okay.

I missed out on what could have been a real treat. We went into Toronto
to do some family cemetery plot thing and met up with our nephew and a
cousin. Nephew was off to a free screening of a tribute to Cohen.
Unfortunately, we had to head home to tend to our dog.

You're strange, he put out at least three or four new albums in that
time!

I probably am different from the people that post here anyway. I was completely unaware of the activities of Mr. Cohen during the past decade. I was never a big fan. OTOH, there's no denying that my memory is failing with age. That's the breaks.

I was a bit confused because I have his biography saying he died on the 10th
yet all the reports are that he died today.

He didn't want the news released until his body had been returned to
Montreal from LA and buried next to his parents and grandparents.

Ok, but on our news they reported that he had died 'earlier today'!

I spotted his biography reporting his death on the 10th and downloaded it.

Beats me when he died. The only thing we can be reasonably sure of is that he's dead.

My unabashed loyalty to what is true lies deeply within my childhood upbringing. I lied to my mother about taking $.25 from the dresser drawer. It still causes me pain when I think of it over half a century later.

After all those years and the pain, I think it might be time to forgive

Children aren't miniature adults, you can't be so hard on
yourself for things you did as a child And learned from.

The trade-off is that it makes me strive to be honest. That's a good thing.
