Folks, that sound you just heard from the the UK is the Neo - liberal globalist crystal vase shattering on the hard cold marble floor. This vote is going to have HUGE repercussions - and that includes us here in the States.
All I can say to the entrenched establishment, and especially to the US Democratic Party establishment is: BEWARE, be very, VERY scared...!!! The primarily liberal and comfortably well - off UK "chattering classes" flopped BIG TIME on this...they were very smug that "Remain" would prevail, their polling was WAY off, etc.... Anyways, what do Ophelia and some of you others think - step UP and opine...!!! |

on the European continent at least [not including the UK]
the common currency, the Euro, is a good thing for one reason - there will be fewer Wars in the future, because they have this common economic link [the currency] it's similar to the US and China, being large trading partners, which is a deterrent to us getting into a War this theory works better with countries that have a common Border marc |

Looks like a lot of people want a new vote. I think it might be Boris. Goodness knows what kind of fist he will make of it. I do actually think though, he is far more intelligent than he appears. He likes to play the buffoon which he couldn't in that position. As for George Osborne, he is a goner! He made threats of a punishment budge if we voted to leave. I am afraid that will be his legacy. He won't be forgiven for that. -- http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/shop/ |

The good thing about it is everything is over and done with in less than a year. Our elections take years (with all the campaigning), it's no wonder we have so much voter apathy over here. I'm sick & tired of it and our conventions haven't even been held yet. Hold the damn election. -- sf |

You don't understand how the vacancy will be filled. First, Conservative MPs select two candidates (from amongst themselves). As you know many Conservative MPs were against brexit so no fan of Boris. The vote then goes to Conservative party members in the UK who choose one of the two candidates. Again, many Conservatives voted against Brexit; so yet again may not favour Boris for PM. The rest of the country and other parties don't vote. It's purely a Conservative matter. The Conservatives are already running a campaign NOT to select Boris. They'd rather have any other Conservative. That's why they call it "anyone but boris". Janet UK > > https://www.theguardian.com/commenti...25/contenders- > > tory-party-leader-up-against-clock > > > > " the Anyone But Boris squad in the Tory party is up and running and > > made up of a curious mixture of Cameroons, social Conservatives who > > disapprove of Boris?s romantic entanglements and dry Conservatives who > > don?t think the former mayor is an authentic Tory or suspect that he > > didn?t really back Brexit because he believed it but because it would > > boost his leadership chances. > You have a political free for all (brawl) over there. The good thing > about it is everything is over and done with in less than a year. You're confusing this with a General Election (or, your presidential Election). Our Prime Ministers are chosen a completely different way by their own party. Labour looks set to also to need a new leader as most of its Shadow cabinet have resigned rather than work with Corbyn. Such is the state of political meltdown nothing in UK politics is going to be all over in a year. We face at least two years of intensive fighting over how to leave the EU, while simultaneously the two biggest parties are both disintegrating before our eyes. Not to mention the acute problem facing Ireland and Scotland. And the EU itself. Janet UK |

It's a situation fraught with risks, but opportunities like this to return to a more authentic democratic government don't come along very often. This event has been 35 years in the making IMO, that's when the globalisation disease began. |

People should be very concerned about the Pacific trade deal that is shaping up. It is bad enough that we have lost so many manufacturing jobs to countries with lower wages and no worker protection, but we could find foreign workers coming here and taking the remaining jobs. |

Yes, luv... ;-) This is the most unexpectedly shocking thing politically that I've witnessed in my lifetime - the first was the fall of the Berlin Wall, and then the quick dissolution of East Bloc communism. In early 1989, no one even remotely thought that these events would occur - and by year's end, no less...!!! The re-unification of Germany was not even considered remotely in the cards, even by West Germany... This whole Brexit contretemps is fascinating, to say the least... -- Best Greg |
