Default did you get your Costco recall notice in the mail today

It's a continuing,big story on the news
http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/fro...cL&ocid=msndhp
The recall now goes back to prior to 2014. I've purchased the frozen
corn, peas and beans. We've already eaten all or some portion of the
items in question and haven't gotten ill. 8 people have gotten sick,
2 died -- although not from the listeria. I know we want action on
our food safety, but does this kind of recall really do any good? It
will certainly hit CRF Frozen Foods in the bottom line. Why aren't
there mandatory monthly swabs taken and tested of machinery and
surrounds? It seems to me that would be a more proactive step.

If it goes back that far, it isn't likely they are going to recall
nearly any of it. I agree with you Janet, a reactive step taken this
far past the origin of the problem isn't going to do anything. Some
people might be just slightly ill and not know the reason. Might or
might not be related. I don't know what we can do about this kind of
thing anymore. Seems the FDA just cares about minor things like taking
anti-smoking aids off of the market and getting into the business of
regulating vaping supplies as if they are tobacco. Phhhtttt

God gave other important food laws as well. He declares as a perpetual
statute that His people eat neither fat nor blood (Leviticus 3:17;
Leviticus 7:22-26; Leviticus 17:10-14; Leviticus 19:26; Deuteronomy
12:16; Deuteronomy 12:23-25; Deuteronomy 15:23; 1 Samuel 14:33-34;
Ezekiel 33:25). The forbidden fat referred to is that of mammals, not
birds, and it is the covering fat that could be removed rather than the
fat marbled in the meat.

The blood restriction applies to mammals and birds. The requirement that
blood be drained from any meat before eating it was even communicated by
the New Testament apostles to gentile converts accustomed formerly to
eating strangled animals not drained of blood (Acts 15:19-20, Acts
15:28-29). As God says in Deuteronomy 12:25, You shall not eat it, that
it may go well with you and your children after you, when you do what is
right in the sight of the Lord.

Not at this late date. I know I don't have any pre-packaged frozen
items in the freezer that date back to 2014, much less earlier.

I agree about proactive prevention steps. No idea about the
machinations required to get such things implemented.

Having said that, I don't know if any of the brands listed were things I
purchased. I do know I've never gotten listeria from any frozen
vegetable or fruit. Or from anything, really. Ditto never got e-Coli. Heh.

I bet the companies that had to do recalls, lengthy shut downs, close
altogether, and pay lawsuits wish they had done monthly swabs. It
would have been cheaper for them.
