Default Saedine and Onion Sandwich

Many years ago ( more than 50) one of my favorite sandwiches went like
this:
toasted light rye
slather one slice with mayo (ok you caught me - Miracle whip)
layer of thin sliced onion
layer of sardines packed in sild oil
layer of thin sliced tomato
layer of lettuce
other slice of bread smeared with softened cream cheese

Alas, A lost treasure. No more sardines in sild oil.

Guess I'll try sardines in soy oil as the most neutral alternative
oil.

Sigh, Broadcast corned beef hash, another old favorite is gone too.
