An Orville Redenbacher offering from ConAgra.
The concept may have been good where the popped corn is contained in the packaging as a disposable bowl. Trouble is, its a flimsy so-called paper bowl with a crappy plastic cover which in my opinion is hard to remove as it is hot and oily. It doesn't like to behave as the instructions show. Also the bottom of the bowl is that same flimsy plastic. The popcorn has no discernable salt flavor and fails to taste anything resembling "buttery". If you want butter, you'd better add it...ditto on the salt. The 82 gm. package is 12.8% less than the 94 gm. package of a competitive brand as well, but who's counting. There were about 30 or so unpopped kernels as well. On a rating of 1 to 5, I would rate this product...number 2... your rating may vary. ===== |

OTOH, the great appeal of the product is to be able to make oil-free popcorn. People would probably like some salty flavoring sprinkled on there but the trouble with that is that stuff won't stick to oil-free popcorn. What's needed is no-calorie, no-fat, popcorn glue. ![]() |

It sticks and tastes good that way. YMMV Cheri |

And that's the problem. Although it is a little less straw like than an air popper. I don't mind it that way but prefer oil and salt. When I popped it like that I wound up using a butter flavored spray to get the salt to stick. I quickly realized that I was using about half a can each time. Trying to add melted butter just won't work. Some kernels will suck it all up and get soggy while others remain dry. And salt won't stick unless you put some sort of fat on it. |

I have a Wearever Popcorn Pumper air popper I bought circa 1965, still works great. It makes enough to fill my 24 cup bowl, more then enough for two, I nuke a 1/2 stick butter in a Pyrex measuring cup, drizzle with melted butter, stir and sprinkle a little salt... best popcorn... nothing artificial. I hate microwave popcorn, they all STINK... literally. |

They won't break when new but after a year or two, drop it and it will chip or shatter. Also, the bottom inside gets really nasty looking in a hurry. As in brown. |

She prefers the pan popped. The kind that comes in the bucket is better than the pop up bowl kind but takes a lot of room to store. |

My rating on the popcorn itself (Orville) is absolutely 5, for
taste (it was buttery), and convenience. It keeps me from having to dig out my air popper. Maybe your taste buds are off. N. |

Works really nice on the stove top popper. The stove top unit suprised me at being a little faster than the microwave when you add I'm making about 8-10 cups final vs. the microwave bags. Healthier too. -- |
